Rights of Nations

23-11-2003, 20:52
I'm now looking for people to support my resolution, Rights of Member Nations. HERE IT IS:

All U.N. Nations shall reserve the following rights:

1. The Right to Personal Interpretation of Laws and Resolutions
2. The Right to Enforce Laws and Resolutions
3. The Right to Protect Citizens from Foreign Power

Any U.N. resolution that infringes on these rights shall hereby be declared a guideline, not law. If any future resolutions infringes on these rights, they must specifically disclaim this resolution to avoid becoming a guideline. Since countries have the right, they are the ones to determine which resolutions infringe on their rights.

//proposal ends here

The proposal is meant to end bills that dictate too many details, specifically how to enforce the bill, and also it means that all nations can maintain an army, and if any resolution makes their army too small, they can ignore it. The interpretation bit just makes sense. If individual nations don't do it, who does? Sure, it allows for loopholes aplenty, but only the governments of the nations can make those loopholes. It's not like some businessman can suddenly decide that minimum wage laws don't apply to his employees.

That changes the game.

It's all well and good but defeats the whole purpose of the UN.
