Life Without Nukes

Because I do not have two endorsements and cannot formally submit this proposal, I will post it here in the hopes I will get two.

---

I believe we should cut off funding and research to our nuclear programs. Nuclear weapons are harmful to our environment, and most of all, our future.

1. Nuclear Warfare has the possibility to kill millions of innocent civilians.
2. Millions and millions of dollars are being spent on nukes when they should be spent on education or social welfare.
3. You all saw what happened with Hiroshima and Nagasaki, do you really want that to happen again?

Hazardous affects of radiation:
1. If radiation gets into our country's drinking water, instantly tons of civilians will be affected.
2. If radiation gets into the air, it has the possibility to be blown all over the world via wind and clouds.

Vote for this resolution and abolish nuclear programs, research and funding. Save our future.

#1 its effects, not affects.

#2 If the UN bans nuclear weapons, all member nations will be lacking in nuclear weapons.

#3 The UN banning of nuclear weapons will not affect non-member nations.

#4 Given #2 and #3 non-UN nations would have an easy time conquering/massacring UN nations.

#5 the massacring/conquering/nuking of UN nations is *bad*.

Such proposals have frequently appeared, and are just as frequently defeated.

The reasons for our opposing anti-nuclear proposals are as follows:

1. UN nations which defy this resolution are difficult or impossible to disarm, since they have nuclear weapons.
2. Assuming all UN nations discard their nukes, non-UN nations, which are not obligated to disarm, will pose a serious threat to UN nations. (Why do you think the principle of MAD exists?)
3. Nuclear research has other uses than nukes, most notaably power generation for civilian use.

We all know what happend with all the nukes in Terminator3.

So if we dont fight the nukes today, the world will go under sometime in
the future.

Power does not need to be eschewed, it needs to be understood, regulated, and wisely employed. This could still be the answer to the impending energy crisis,

The Government of the Dominion of Dinoponera is committed to the use of nuclear fission for civilian purposes, and resents any attempt by supra-national bodies to interfer in our uranium trade. Furthermore, the Dominion of Dinoponera notes the damaging effect of fossil fuels on the enviroment and suggests that it should be fossil fuel based, rather than nuclear, energy generation which the international community oppose.
