Capitalists. They believe in the social class system, if they did not, they would have voted YEA on the resolution.

"Equality for all" is a dangerous illusion.

Attempting to mandate it through governmental programs has a strong probability of creating a society similar to the one depicted in "Harrison Bergeron."

Amen to that. However, I would say instead of class system, it would be a caste system. Vertically ridged.

Wel yeah, except for the millions who end up crossing the caste boundaries and rendering the "system" meaningless, that's an apt description.

Try reading the debate about that resolution in the UN forum.
Perhaps that will help you understand the reasoning the 'nay' voters used.

Wasn't "Equality for all" that stupid reso that made it illegal to eat meat?

Equality for all is necessary, but programs like affirmative action are just gay.

The affirmative action system defies equality by putting matters of race/creed/religion above that of skill and ability.

The proposal would have made eating meat illegal. The idea was good, but when cows have as many legal rights as you, few people, even me, can support it.

It could be argued that it made eating plants illegal, too.

I can only write the defense of why we had to vote down this redundant and poorly worded proposal so many times, so instead of going into it again there is a summary of the points against in the thread "So I've noticed...." (or something similar to that title) by another concerned member state who decided to post his condemnation of the majorities actions before regarding the reams and reams of debate on the topic.

In short, the UN is not against Equality, if you look at the list of passed resolutions you will see that the subject had been dealt with and this one meerly worsened the issue rather than make it better.

We are neither sick, not idiots. Please regard our debate before passing such judgement.

Honestly man, read the debates-or the answer I gave like right before you posted this. This was a long hard campaign in which we all stated our arguements and clarified and re-iterated them again and again. All of this is available for you to look up. If you decided not to participate in the debate when it happened at least allow us the courtisy of moving on while you catch up.

No one argued that the intent wasn't good, it was the exicution. We cannot simply give a rubber stamp to good intentions.

diversity being the nature of reality
we will always encounter those who'se positions are offensive
to ourselves

to demean their intelligence serves little cause

it may well be that many formulate oppinions on the basis of emotional
attatchments without objectively thinking through their consiquences

in the mundane world this is a thing that happens all too often

there is also a need to clearly and explicitly state intent on the
part of parties of all sides

often far too little care is taken in doing so

such lables as 'sick idiots' are a rather broad brush
however much it may at times seem to apply

objecting to lack of popularity of clearity of thought is an understandable
objection however and one with which we share heartfelt simpathy

there were one or two
possibly fatal ambiguities
in the proposal as i recall seeing
it, though it's intention was clearly
sound, or so we would have pronounced had we been at that time
here to do so

and perhapse some minor editing might have saved it.

as i seem to recal, and it's not an exact recolection in entirity,
but there did seem to be a conspicuous lack of concession
to carniverous wild creatures.
which must be admitted; created something of a paradox.

However well meaning a proposal is, it is dependent on how an individual interprets the wording of it.

Maybe it would be a good idea if people got a few (objective) friends to read their proposals before putting them forward.

Only obvious to people who know it's obvious.

Hmm :?

Equality for all?

So tell me, would you like to work really hard all month, to come home and sit down really tired. Knowing that someone on the dole is getting the same money as you because some nations passed a "Equality For All" resolution?

I thought not.

People do not want Equality. They want fairness.

Heh. Priceless. 8)

The Holy Empire of Ustasha questions the logic of the hippie nations who voted for the Equality resolution. Every day, hippies bombard us with propoganda:

"Blah blah blah celebrate diversity blah blah."
"Blah blah blah tolerate differences, blah, blah."
"Blah, blah, accept new and different ideas, blah."

But when, after all that, they say "we're all equal", it makes no god damned sense! All equal means all the same. It means all alike. It means....

Freaking.... Agent.... SMITH!

The fact is, no two people are equal. Not even clones. Trust me, I have a clone army harvested from Arnold Schwarzennegger's DNA. 8)

Hippies have this insane ideal that we are all diverse and different, yet all equal. It is foolish. Some people are better than others. Some people deserve more. No, I'm not being rascist! THINK about it. Does Jennifer Love Hewitt deserve the same treatment as Osama Bin Laden? Well, if everyone was equal, we would treat them exactly the same. It's the stupidest idea I've ever heard of. 99% Communism, 0% Logic, 1% filler.

Pathetic.

True. However, the resolution in question did not say everyone; it did say everything (alive). This includes disease causing organisms- not to mention food.

*grins*

yes yes! What has been stated for the against side is absolutely correct! I voted against it because we wouldn't be able to eat any meat or plants or anything.I didn't even think of the contrast between Osama and Jennifer. That was a great point! So was the hippies thing.

Wording must be laid out carefully and looked at from different points. If it had been worded better I may have voted for.

Note:Nice title, although you should get to know me better before criticizing
me.FYI,I am a freak not a sick idiot.Thank you.
