Debate about the Defense of Science Act

19-11-2003, 08:02
The Most Serene Republic of Hyper Evilness would like to formally open the Defense of Science Act open for debate at the United Nations forums. I would encourage regional delegates to consider endorsing this proposal. As of now it currently has 41 endoresements.

Defense of Science Act

Whereas, science has made huge advances in our knowledge and ability to manipulate the universe.

Whereas, science has historically been threatened by religious organizations.

Whereas, the value judgments of certain organizations seek to limit research areas that may one day save millions of human lives. One notable example being calls for restrictions on embryonic stem cell research.

Whereas, the lives of millions that may benefit from scientific advances are more important than the philosophy of any religion.

Let it be resolved, that all member nations shall allow scientific research to proceed without inhabitation, directly or indirectly, from religious organizations.

That is a value judgement and not necessarily true. Theocracies and any nation state who's people are religious would differ on your opinion. This proposal would be a blow against civil rights in that religious people/groups would not be able to express themselves and/or protest.

No inhabitation? That shouldn't be a problem.
