I would ask that you consider endorsing the recently introduced resolution on fair trade as recently proposed by The Grand Duchy of Hauts-de Seine. While we are generally supportive of the notions of division of labor and the benefits that are derived from trade, unfair and ill-advised outcomes can occur when one set of powerful countries impose rules that less fortunate countries are forced to accept out of economic reality. The principle of fair trade allows us to acknowledge the reality of the modern capitalist trading system, while ameliorating some of the bad side effects that have come into being. As the Grand Cunchy of Hauts-de-Seine has stated, "Fair trade is basically a way to reverse the balance of power in international trade by subsidising third world producers using taxes on imports to the countries they belong to. This way, the producers are rewarded for their work and earn enough money to make a decent living." Thank you for your time and consideration.
