UN Proposal Condeming Belem

18-11-2003, 06:05
The President of Senoj, Lord Trebor received word today that Emporer Vito of Belem has launched a modern day Inquisition targeting the homosexual population of his nationstate. The ramifications of this action are not isolated to Belem but rather impact the entire region and our world itself. Therefore, The Republic of Senoj hereby breaks all diplomatic and economic ties with Belem. We ask that the global community and the United Nations bring sanctions against Belem immediatly."

I believe that persuant to UN regulations, there can not be proposals geared towards other specific nations.

Per the guidelines of submitting UN Proposals :

Not Worthy of the UN's Consideration
This is rather a subjective thing and the good news is that it's only used very rarely. A classic example of a proposal which gets deleted under this rule is "We propose that the UN declare war on <nation>." While the role of the real-world UN might involve warfare and the waging thereof, it isn't for this body to fight wars.

We would be willing to lend the support of our armed forces of prehistoric clones, if this topic were moved to II.

Persuant to UN resolutions regarding Sexual Freedom (passed March 13 2003) and Gay Rights (May 3 2003) it would be within your rights as a UN nation to condemn that nation (by, I guess, telling them that you condemn their actions) for violation of the voted upon will of the UN.

You may add The Oppressed Peoples of Cannot think of a name to the complaintants as a consciencous member of the UN when you make such a condemnation. As we agree that using resolutions to address specific nations would un-neccisarily bog down an already troubled proposal system, our support in your direct complaint and request to abide to the will of the UN is all we can offer.

We are not a war nation, however, and as such can only offer political support. We can, however, assist in coming up with the method (TG or RP thread) in which to deliver such a condemnation. (I believe RP thread in International Issues publicly condemning them as in violation of the UN is the way to go. Unless they are not part of the UN, then it's a bit of a tough go)

The old delegate from Enodia, Baron Radzinkovic, rises to address the motion.

While the Electorate of Enodia wholeheartedly supports those who would condemn Belem for this action, we counsel the nation of Senoj against officially making a proposal to that effect. Given the rules governing proposals, we fear that such a proposal would be ruled out of order.
Again, we wholeheartedly support those would would condemn anti-homosexual pogroms or pogroms against any group in society.

While I completely agree with senoj, I cannot agree to their request for the U.N. to draw sanctions against the "nation" of belem, and I use THAT term softly . . . It sems to be to me, the role of the U.N. is to increase communications between nation states, not to spank them for having a loud mouth and proposal that will get shot down like a clay pigeon at a shooting range.

Anyway, any inteligent, liberal nation with an IQ and sensibilities higher then a packet of frozen peas will shun the little bigot jack boot sexually confused bast*ard blow hard loser may he rot in stagnat cyber space.

Ahem , but bless you with luck for your sentiment.

An elderly woman with bright blue eyes adresses the UN assembly

The Dutch Democratic Republic fiercely condemns the actions of the Nation of Belem. As the United Nations delegate of the Netherlands we support this resolution.

Knootoss itself has already condemned Belem's barbaric practives and will take appropriate sanctions.

We urge all UN delegates, regardless of their views on the matter, to endorse this resolution so that the UN may finally have a say in such international matters.
