Influence of the UN

Recently i have stumbled upon a resolution which mocks with souvereignity of independent democratic Nations. This made me think.
The UN is an international organ which serves as mediator of peace and several international issues(crossborder). My conclusion is that the UN should stick to the above purpouses and should not meddle with internal affairs of souvereign democratic nations. That means that human rights are also internal affairs.

In my opinion, we aren't technically messing with non-members unless we mention it in the resolution. For instance, Equality For All would only effect member nations, but the international list of nature reserves would effect any nation in which a reserve was declared. The truth is, though, that no one will declare a reserve in a non-member, and even if they did, no one would enforce it, and even if they did, it's all good roleplay anyhow.

well UN is full of independent nations, i mean u have issues on several levels. But this affects internal affairs which it shouldnt. but environment is crossborder(CO2) gasses. But anyways UN rules are meant as a frame work and shouldnt go down to internal affairs which are more detailed. Reducing gasses can be achieved in many ways. Maybe the UN should offer several option to comply to some resolutions. I love diversity.
1. Toll roads.
2. Invest in environmental technologies
3. Increased environmental inspection of companies
4. Increasing the size of national parks.
5. ban smoking.
6. boost public transport.
7.etc.

that would be more fun.

Since the rise of civilization (November 13, 2002), the members of the United Nations have been working tirelessly to improve the standard of the world. That, or trying to force other nations to be more like them. But that's just semantics.

The UN is your chance to mold the rest of the world to your vision, by voting for resolutions you like and scuttling the rest. However, it's a double-edged sword, because your nation will also be affected by any resolutions that pass. (You can't just obey the resolutions you like and ignore the rest, like real nations do.)
