I would like to say thanks to all who posted convincing arguments on the current, diabolically worded proposal. I just looked and it was ~6100 yes against ~6400 no :D :D :D :D

it's not so much left wingers as it is people being ignorant. I'm very left wing and could see the flaws in this the moment I saw it. I voted no on the last 3 resolutions (since I've been a UN delegate). People see what looks to be nice, vote for it, and never give it another thought.

Dear Emperor Morgan,

The Federation of the 510 Techcropolis is exceedingly pleased to hear of the success of the forums. Early on, it seemed that far too few politicians were examining them, and considering the strongest arguments of both side of the debate before voting.

While I would have liked to have been able to have sent you a telegram to bring up my state's objections, I only had the time to cover about one quarter of the delegates. However, you bring up a good point about the need for organization and delegation, so that future telegram campaigns can be more wide reaching, instead of having very uneven distributions. On the next issue that has serious flaws, it would be great to have a campaign done in this manner.

It's astonishing to see a large part of the UN actually voting based on the content of a proposal rather than its title. Maybe the quality of proposals submitted to the UN will actually improve (it can't get any worse) due to this grass-roots campaign. Thank you to all who participated!

Activism sucks when it's not your monopoly, eh, Eugenia?

And here comes the facist adgenda...

what can be more fascist than a government saying THIS:

"Do Not Over-Analyze this,
you must not look into this resolution too deeply"

And yet THAT is the words of the nation that presented this Resolution!

Talk about shades of George Orwell's 1984!!

So tell me...what fascism do you fear? That fascism you can see and it tells you not to think, like this resolution and its author....or not? If this isnt fascist doctrine, I dont know what is.

I'm sorry that you have gotten the impression that I was addressing you with my comment. This is the exact behavior I warned you about, when I said that some reps are so eager to want to argue and or confront that they close off all other senses (including common). It is so very obvious whom I was addressing, because my post is right underneath it. Unless your telling us that you exist as both nations?

Thank you for the info and yes I am definately interested :-)

Dear Speaker of the Federation:

The Emperor of Morgain further thinks most of the resolutions that *have* passed have been poorly worded as well, and believes there should be significantly greater moderation to avoid bad proposals being entered into the queue in the first place.

The Emperor of Morgain is at present busy crafting a proposal that should be very well worded when complete, and looks forward to it being voted on principally on the merit of its argument.

Feel free to Telegram me.

A closer look at that statement makes me think you voted for the resolution. Are you unable to realize the encredible arguements some people used to show how the wording was terrible? There's a reason so many people were upset by the resolution. Many arguements weren't so wonderful, but the convincing ones were quite geared to be against the resolution.
18-11-2003, 03:40
Lol Eugenia.

Maybe this is why people are against democracy, it turns into mob rule.

However, I, after considering the position for a long time, decided that it really is a bad resolution with the wording, nothing else. I would be fine if the word sentient beings was added into the resolution, other than the second clause about sexual preferences. But that's a whole different arguement.

filibuster is when the people take the floor and talk until the thing up for vote is gone, and they dont stop talking, therefore not allowing a vote at all. Certainly not what happened here
18-11-2003, 03:51
meh, its a cool word nevertheless. Ok so maybe it was a bad choice of word, however, we all got the point, right? [And no I am not contradiciting my statements about proper wording because a thread is immeasureably less important than an actual resolution.]

We sent so many t-grams it pissed everyone off, so it's like boring the other delegates to death with a really long speech. So it's a semi-filibuster ;). My favorite kind of filibuster is when the Speaker of hte House "accidentally" misses the motions to move the question .

Yes. I do Student Congress, and my favorite thing to do is Filibust. That and have a corrupt Speaker election. There's a time limit on your speeches, so the way to filibust is either get the Speaker to "accidentally" ignore certain motions, or just make a bunch of silly inane motions yourself. Your motion to table after every speech so people get sick and tired of you and just vote to table to get you to stop saying it .

ANd lastly of course, you can revert to the True Spirit of the Filibuster™ and just yell "Objection!" whenever someone makes a motion to move the question before the motion gets seconded. That's what we did back during the Civil Rights Movement.

Like most bad things in this game, it is propped up by the apathy of its supporters.

That said, no major Delegate supported this monstrosity, but about 5000 individuals did.

you know who the police girl in the front is right?
it is Megaman,
in the story for the Misadventures of Tron Bonne (original JP version)
Rockman gets trashed really bad and no one has any suitable spare parts, except Miss Tron (Kawaiee) however all her parts are for herself , Girl robot parts, and bam, Rockman becomes Denise, Kattlox Island PD.

as for Politics, well this is a bad proposal, and I was glad to work against it, however did you notice, that the people making the goof y policies, will make a proposal with absolutly Nothing to do with children,
such as Nuclear regulatory policy and at the end or soemwhere in the bill they will tack, For the children, in fact in a US state, I wont say which one, they actually tacked a modified version of the Neo Nazi 14 words. (changed it for All childs not just white Chitlins)

Ahem,

Actually this entire fiasco of the shot down (currently) proposal is a positive sign that voters are reading the forums before throwing the voting stone, and . . . that mass communication of ideas on the U.N. is possible with enough effort, to the benefit of all members and future members, oh yeah, and it signifies the U.N. is achieving its purpose in making the bonds between countries stronger, and increasing communication.

Which is much goodness.

Fare thee well, all,
