I would just like to say that my faith in the UN has dropped by leaps and bounds since the passing of multiple "feel-good" resolutions that are flawed, idiotic, in many cases counter-productive, vague, and dangerous. The current resolution states:
"We propose that all nations under the UN charter respect the very essence of life and vow to preserve and protect it, in all its many forms whether human, or otherwise."
I believe someone simply stated that the AIDS virus has no rights. To which I would agree. It is not a matter of 'reading between the lines' as some have said. It's a matter of reading. It is in front of your very eyes, and to pass such a resolution is to agree with it. I do not agree with that statement. To not vote against this resolution is to condone it and to allow it to take place within your own country.
In short, if this resolution passes then the UN will officially be doing more harm than good for my country. I refuse to allow my policies to be dictated by such resolutions.
I believe it will be better for us all in the long run, in the event that this resolution passes, to leave the UN.
