Equaltiy For All

16-11-2003, 17:26
We must pass the equality for all resolution. It is an excellent opportunity to advance the rights of humanity. The Kennedy Family is supportive of any such matters in the liberal progressive tradition. This bill is a start, but we must go further.

*The graciousness Opalll stands up from his seat*

The equality includes all forms of life including food sources and diseases. I, the supremenes of Opalll urge the Kennedys to read it again, and between the lines.

This idiotic resolution will force most members of the UN to resign.

What will we eat? Nothing? Everything we eat has lived someday.

If your position is for EFA, I humbly request that you review both the resolution and the debate surrounding it.

This is a well intentioned proposal that is not specific enough...it can be read different ways, one of which would be that those of us who require sustenance to survive would be unable to do so.

This seems to be seeped deeply within deep ecology. It is saying that all life on earth is equal with equal rights. However this simply goes against the basid tennets of evolution. Evolution is not a "live and let live" system, however a survival of the fitest system. By passing this resolution we are asking ourselves to go against the very basic tennets of our nature.
Furthermore, there is no punishment system for those who break the law. We are asking that all life be treated equal. If this is true, than when a lion or tiger attacks its prey for food, we must put this lion or tiger in jail, even though neither animal can comprehend justice.

While I think it would be nice to see every human being as equal, it is assinie to believe every living item on earth can be equal.

It's not just the equality of all life problem. Look at the last line of the proposal. It's asking for an abolishment of government use of words relating to a person's sexuality.

So, does that mean the government can't report that crime against homosexuals in the capital city is on the rise? Does that mean the government can't intervene when heterosexuals can't get jobs in a certain town?

Another nation in another thread remarked on the Orwellian quality of that clause, and I have to agree. It may be blatant discrimination for the government to force people to classify themselves as male or female, het or homo, or what have you; but it is a straightforward invitation to the worst abuses of bigotry to abolish the knowledge of what is really going on.

that said... Letila, your motto rocks, and here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/quislibet/164084.html) is a song you might enjoy
