Whereas the act of Prostitution is an indecent practice, and
The representatives of Blumploslovakia ask the UN delagates from each nation to support the UN Resolution "Ban Of Prostitution". The resolution is enclosed for you're convenience:

***
Whereas the crime (notably organized crime) that legalized Prostitution brings to a country can hurt others surrounding it, and

Whereas the diseases that legalized Prostitution can bring to a society can harm said society, and others surrounding it,

It is resolved with the passage of this resolution, "Ban of Prostitution", that

The legalization of prostitution is an illigal act upon itself, punishable by removal from the UN, and

The act of prostitution is hearby illigal, and punishable to the fullest extent of the law by the nation in which the act takes place.
***

Please support the proposed resolution. Thank you for you're time.

No, the UN has no business making law in areas like this. The UN only has business in dealing with interactions between nations, not internal matters, though the abundance on morons in this game have dictated otherwise so far...I'll probably withdraw form the UN before too much longer if these resolutions taking away my sovreignity continue to be passed.

I just have to ask -- if people want to be prostitutes, and people want to... er... use their services, what reason do we have to interfere? Do you have alternative jobs for the people you plan to knock off the market? Is this a global issue requiring UN attention of any sort?

The only convincingly global problem you bring to mind is the STDs. If we're going to worry about those, we might as well just ban sex altogether. Good thinking.

The Great Nation of Putergeeks does not support this resolution. It is up to each nation to determine the legality of it.

The UN must not interfeer with personal rights and occupations in nations and banning prostitution is a major step in interfearing with a nation's soverignty and authority. Therefore, the Kingdom of Froiselle strongly opposes the Ban on Prostitution.

From the Capital City of Ydmos:

While the scourge of organized crime and sexually transmitted pestilence is recognized as worthy of eradication, attempts to legislate morality have tended to end badly and in any event result in outcomes of questionable value and efficacy. Therefore, the Confederacy of Free Morons stands in opposition to the proposal.

The people of Outer Uiguria realize the problem, but as unwilling prostitution is often linked to the organized crime, illegalizing the profession would make the position of the women in business even worse and thus cause inconsiderable pain and suffering among these unfortunates. And although Outer Uigurian State Development Politbyro has a negative stance to private enterprise, we still have to object such ban as it would limit the civil rights of our citizens. But, we are also proud to inform the global audience that over 86,3% of the prostitutes in Outer Uiguria have at least a lower academic degree.
The Global Market

Whereas the crime (notably organized crime) that legalized Prostitution brings to a country can hurt others surrounding it, and

Organized crime related to prostitution occurs BECAUSE prostitution is ILLEGAL. The same way that prohibition caused alcohol-related organized-crime. When we legalized alcohol, there wasn't a black market, hence no more alcohol-related crime. There is very little prostitution-related crime in Nevada, where it is legal.

Whereas the diseases that legalized Prostitution can bring to a society can harm said society, and others surrounding it,

Once again, if prostitution is legal prostitutes are more likely to get tested for STDs and work in respected bordellos instead of for pimps.

His Most Enlightened One recognizes that no body should have to power to decide the internal affairs of a sole nation, and that prostitution can easily be considered as a means of achieving spirituality, as it is featured in many holy books throughout the world, and thus no legislation must stop it. Therefore, the Most Serene Republic of the Arctic Banana stands in opposition of this proposal
