Sovereign Free Trade
A resolution to restrict political freedoms in the interest of law and order.

Category: Political Stability Strength: Mild Proposed by: Jacobstalia
Description: Whereas if “Sovereign Free Trade” is passed, the UN will never have the mandate to enforce all UN nations to commit to free trade, unless a further resolution specifically voids “Sovereign Free Trade”.
The business of free trade should be held to the decision of the sovereign nation and not be even considered part of the UN responsibility. The only restriction that “Sovereign Free Trade” entails is limiting the power of UN over the issue of enforcing free trade.

For clarification, modern examples of free trade agreements and organizations would be the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Again, if “Sovereign Free Trade” becomes a passed resolution, then only sovereign nations and not the UN shall only decide to be part of modern organizations and free trade agreements such as those listed above, unless “Sovereign Free Trade” is made void by a future resolution.

Thank you,

Wendal Anishna
Free Thought UN Delegate
