Yep, after approving countless Proposals as Arkanarsk, I have submitted my own. It is kind of borderline and I fear Enodia might toast it later, but here it is for your consideration. Please approve it if you feel like doing so. And if not, relax, how many Proposals have you seen become Resolutions and get passed? Exactly. :wink:
Universal Declaration of Love
Alarmed by all the hate in the world,
Concerned by evidence that most traditional methods of conflict resolution are counter-productive,
Recognising that some conflicts have brought relations between the affected individuals, communities, nations and regions to particularly tragic lows,
Aware that the pain and differences brought about by disputes can take a long time to heal,
Reaffirming the UN's aim of maintaining international peace and security through the promotion of good international relations and mutual respect amongst the peoples of its member states,
Guided by a belief in the presence of a kernel of good in human nature,
1) Appeals to all nations and their citizens to take a moment to remember the love that makes some parts of the world so pleasant;
2) Further appeals to all nations and their citizens to express this love in a manner of their choosing forthwith;
3) Invites all nations to set aside a day, perhaps giving it the status of a national holiday, to express their appreciation and support for those who believe in peace, tolerance and respect, and those who work towards such things;
4) Encourages world leaders to use this opportunity to express their goodwill to neighbouring nations and extend a hand of friendship to any nations with which diplomatic relations have been interrupted;
5) Reminds world leaders of the wisdom of keeping their populace safe, happy and content, and urges leaders to place this under consideration when formulating policy, particularly that relating to law enforcement, political processes and society;
6) Endorses with appreciation the efforts of all those who will doubtless do their bit to spread this message of compassion;
7) Expresses the hope that all nations and their rulers realise that acts of kindness or even the restraint of acts of hostility can alleviate much of the suffering and animousity in the world.
