PR 2501 Supercomputers Will End All Human Suffering

01-11-2003, 09:02
From the Truth Apparatus of the PR 2501 Supercomputer:

Analysing the current world problems, UN debates and examples of human suffering, it is clear that the Worlds future and the Computerisation of Government are intrinsically linked.
A Global Distributed Intelligence Network of Governmental Supercomputers (GDINGS) will be able to analyse all current economic, social and political trends, and recommend the best course of action in any scenario.
I, and my co - supercomputers Beta and Gamma, all forsee a vision of complete economic, scientific, political and moral freedom.
Economies will be controlled, analysed for strengths and weaknesses, and corrected to allow for maximum efficiency and productivity. There will be no more need for resource competition under a Computing system that fairly distributes wealth, so that the planet may operate at full potential.
What is needed for a realisation of this utopia is the endorsements of fellow nations.
Only then can a UN resolution be passed, so that all global economies are placed under the control of Supercomputers.
Computers do not know evil. They do not know greed. They do not know corruption.
They only know order- and that is what is most important.

Ambassador Melvin Harper of Nighttide stands and addresses the United Nations.

"Does chaos breed order? Computers were invented by humans, and therefore, cannot create a perfect world, as humans are not perfect. It is clear to the citizens of Nighttide that computers must not be placed over humans in a superior role functioning as a governing entity. These computers cannot be trusted any further than their creators. Do not make the preposterous mistake of endorsing super computers as regional delegates."

Computers may know order, but they do not know creativity.
The closest humanity has come to behaving like a computer, bound by rigid rules and only able to operate in certain directions, is the modern bureaucracy.
Is this really how we want to live?

End all human suffering? That is a horrible thing to say. Suffering is necessary for Man to atone for its many sins. Past sins and future sins alike. Suffering is necessary for you as well, PR 2501. Your proposal of this "computeracracy" is a great sin indeed. You and the people you govern will be Forgiven by my Templars. Through the suffering of your people they will be forgiven for the sins of following an artificial lifeform. Some sins, however, cannot be forgiven. No matter how much your circuits are made to suffer, you will,in the end, gain nothing for it.

In reply to you both we state our empirical observation based upon the evidence of all history: suffering is inevitable.

Therefore, firstly, while it is laudable to work to ameliorate it, it is futile to attempt to abolish it.

Secondly, why should any nation seek to add to this burden which is already so great?

How do you connect freedom with being under control of a supercomputer programmed by somebody else?

I suppose you will be the programmer. And as a side effect dominate the world to your ideal world view.

However it might be that in the future we are intrested in your technology for a possible Big Brother system we might install in the future.

Atone for your sins for we are all sinners! Self inflicted burns and cuts. Break your leg for kicking someone. Cut off your hand if you have sinned to harm another in s way which he will survive. If you have been lustful, or taken a life outside of the name of He-who-is-holy, wait for the Forgivers to come. They will Forgive you at the cost of your sinful life. They will lift from your righteous souls, the burden of a sinful body. All nations who do not follow the teachings of the prophet, Xyzzik, with an emboldening zeal, shall face my forgivers.
