Legalizing all soft-core drugs

27-10-2003, 10:42
I Thanatos Grand Toker of all the Free Lands of Hemporius am seeking to pass legislation through the U.N. to legalize all Cannabis and soft-core social drugs for i believe that it will help out many struggling nations Import/export trade. Why fight it when you can tax it?that is all...

It's being done - as we speak, a proposal is calling for this very move, and gaining some support. I think it's the Scandinavian drug class act.

Well in New Zealand we've been doing that for generations, right back to when my forefathers first landed on the lush shores of this fine country, armed only with their drug-seeds and soft-core pornography. The natives could not resist the effects of the drugs and soft-core pornography, and New Zealand became a net exporter of the commodities within a decade.

Today the situation is more refined and greasy. The northern part of the country is zoned for the growing and making of recreational drugs and the southern sector is for the soft-core pornography. There is also a large sheep industry that overlaps into the other 2 with varied and often disturbing results.

Soft-core drugs as in caffine or aspirin?

Cannabis is hurting productivity in my country. Some people have begun burning logs of it in their fireplaces.

Why not produce them in the UN member countries and flood the markets of non-member nations?

I agree with, "why fight it when you can tax it". It is the best solution, and soft, recreational drugs are already legal in my country. It should be made legal in all countries, the government only stands to gain.

Why should this be an issue for the United Nations instead of being the purvey of national governments? Pantocratoria stands affirm against anything which it regards as subversive to the Pantocratorian way of life - marijuana is most certainly on the list of culturally subversive things. We would vote against any UN proposal forcing us to admit these so-called "soft drugs", but we believe nations on both sides of the issue would be best served by dealing with this issue themselves.

As long as we retain the right to *regulate* such drugs (to require truth in labelling, ban sales to minors, and ban smoked drugs in enclosed public spaces, for example), and retain the right to tell people they can't use them in certain circumstances (when about to drive or perform surgery, for example), we in Gurthark would support the international legalization of drugs. These drugs are already legal (but regulated) in our country. We do not believe in victimless crimes.

Then you can regulate it out of existance.

This is a bit of a problem with resolutions of this form (as opposed to national laws). It's fairly hard for them to permit nations to regulate drug use without either allowing them to ban it or getting very specific about the sorts of regulations that are permissable.

We'd be more fully inclined to support the proposal if it said something more specific, such as:

Nations shall make no law preventing the use of [list of drugs] by consenting adults in the privacy of their own homes.

This would still allow us to regulate sale, public use, actions following use, and cases involving children.

you are correct in the fact that most countries that want them will have already made them legal,i want it made legal throughout the world that way my country can trade marijuana with any other country for other needed goods.for that reason alone i would like it legal but if truth be told i cannot picture someone flying a jet or operating a tank very effectivley while they are inebriated from smoking or eating marijuana which would be a great thing for the worldwide peace effort .also when you cultivate it you can make it into number 2 and number 4 oil which can be used to heat your houses or power your vehicles as well.that and the fact that it is highly nutritious as well should offset any growing starvation issues that some nations have to face.it also makes a wonderful anti-depressant as well in psychiatric uses.for these reasons and for many more i would like to see it made legal worldwide...

We are wondering why you stopped with soft-core drugs.

We've legalized everything in insanica. So this resolution won't effect us much.

Yes, because everyone who takes caffine or drinks alcohol goes on to take heroin. You're spouting a lot of arse.

Are you on drugs, by the way?
29-10-2003, 20:54
TedHughes,

Don't you know that 100% if people who take heroin started on baby food? You and your liberal kind disgust me for ignoring such blantant statistical facts. Ban baby food (and water)!!!
