Transportation Fund
A resolution to reduce income inequality and increase basic welfare.

Category: Social Justice

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Depressed Nations

Description: WHEREAS vast areas of the world remain in an underdeveloped economic state.
WHEREAS these areas do not have the financial or organizational means to develop independently the required transportation infrastructure for a modern economy.
WHEREAS current organizations such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund operate under the control of the industrialized world and not always in the best interest of society as a whole.
BE IT RESOLVED that the United Nations shall appropriate funds from member countries to develop transportation infrastructure within underdeveloped states. This action will impact the following:
1) Both imports and exports will be able to flow more smoothly in the underdeveloped world, leading to an increase in profitable trade for all.
2) The development will also allow for expedited internal transportation of both goods and people, enhancing invaluable economic and social connections within fragmented states and regions.
3) Will provide innumerable jobs for the largely underemployed populations of underdeveloped nations.

For the obvious benefit to economies of all states we, the Disputed Territories of Depressed Nations urge our fellow United Nations members to approve this proposasl.

What if they don't want a modern economy?
WHEREAS current organizations such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund operate under the control of the industrialized world and not always in the best interest of society as a whole.
The United Nations isn't in the best interest of society as a whole, either. Why aren't you trying to solve that problem?

We are not familiar with these "current organizations", but will take your word for it that they are not doing their best to promote international transportation.

Just to clarify, this is not a resolution proposed by the government of the Eredron Republic; we merely provided the text of the said Proposal to benefit others.

I understand your reticence in supporting this proposal because of financial reasons. Sadly, I cannot place this proposal in both the social justice and free trade categories, although it would obviously benefit both. The resolution, however, because of the way the game works, will only benefit the poorer countries that would like to develop (no country would be FORCED to take this aid). Despite the inability to classify this resolution, I do urge all of you to support it to bring it to a full vote of the United Nations.
