Just a note of thanks

19-10-2003, 10:33
I would like to say thank you to all of my fellow UN members for creating these lattest acts of passionate substinence within our walls..

Thank you for shooting my income tax rate up to an astounding 42% and lowering my per capita rate of income,,, to Good.. rather than the previous excellent/powerhouse status that I had worked so hard to maintain... also,, I am sure the good people of Hedonist don't mind paying the 42%,,, rather than the previous 23% that they had been paying until all of you decided to go willy nilly on all these free initiative reforms, that tax the hard working nations to death, to take care of the ones that won't get of their own rear ends and do something for themselves..

Again... as I contemplate my UN resignation..

I just wanted to say "thank you"
for showing me what socialism is all about,,
and reaffirming the fact that I have a serious disdain for it.

You're welcome. In fact, have another helping.

Hedonist, on this issue, we are of one mind! My economy - which I had also worked very hard to maintain, fell from "Powerhouse" to "Strong", and income tax has been introduced - and even worse: PROGRESSIVE income tax. Yuck!

Yours Godly

Eredron offers its sympathies, as our Most Holy Republic has also suffered at the hands of reckless abandon on the part of the UN majority.

My income tax leapt up from a mere 56% to a crushing 68%, and my economy declined from Strong (took so long to get there) to Good. Unfortunately not even the concrete wall which runs around my national borders can save my people from UN resolutions.

But I'll stay for the tea and biscuits.

Rather an expensive way to get tea and biscuits, don't you think?

Yes, but I can't afford to buy them back in Pantocratoria anymore, now that I'm giving 68% of my income to the man.

Fortunately our Senate has realized the dire gravity of the situation and withdrawn from the United Nations before this resolution could be passed.

Our nation's economy still stands at Frightening and our people are still living in a state free of the income tax. We proudly boast a level of freedom and prosperity scarcely matched elsewhere in the world.

Our newest Senatorial election has occured, with the Libertarian-Capitalist Party gaining an unprecedented 144 seats out of the 225 total seats. The Global Market now has a majority party for only the second time.

Hey, I'm in the middle of an RP where a populist right-wing government has come into power. I thought it'd be a nifty election issue, certainly an interesting departure from the previous government's policy of importing cheap immigrant labour to work on subsistence wages doing jobs nobody else would want to do. :D

We of the Global Market welcome immigrants within our borders. Our Laws of Naturalization require only a four-year waiting period to become a citizen and just about anyone who doesn't have a criminal record or ties to known terrorist groups are allowed to come.

Yes, yes, immigrants are all very well and good. The wall is REALLY there to stop people from getting out. Not many people are going to stay and pay 68% income tax when TGM doesn't collect any income tax to speak of, are they? 8)

Give me your tired, your weak, your tax refugees yearning to breathe free...
Corinto

Corinto also suffers from this legislation. Our economy is down to "all-consuming" and we have an income tax of 44%.

It, however, gets worse. Corinto is now an inoffensive centrist democracy

And just to add to the issue of immigration:

Corinto welcomes refugees and immigrants to our nation, so long as they come prepared for employment

In my country, immigrants don't HAVE to get employment. But they certainly won't be getting any welfare if they don't get employment.

Crap. my ecomony is in the toilet. Can you believe that I fell from Frightening to All-consuming?! What are we going to do? The ecomomy is about to collapse....we're all going to die...but, somehow the unemployed bums on the street are suddenly sporting gold chains....wait a minute... I think I am going to have to follow the lead of my regional brother, The Global Market, and ditch the UN whenever I want to resist the socialist agenda of said body.
