The UN is ineffective!

19-10-2003, 04:57
Not one proposal can actually become a resolution because of the high threshold leaving the UN an ineffective useless body.

So what about all those proposals that have already made their way to full resolutions? Maybe your ideas just don't rise to that level of scrutiny. Maybe you haven't sold them well enough.

We must agree with you on this one thing. It is too hard to get worthy proposals passed. We probaly disagree on what a worthy proposal is, however.

We would like someone with the power of proposal to put this forward:

Proposal Reform Act

I. Any UN Member may make a proposal.
II. A proposal, gaining 40 Approvals, is to be voted upon at some point. It may not be deleted, unless approvals are withdrawn, taking it below 40.
III. Priority shall be given by the system to proposals with the most approvals.
IV. If two proposals tie in numbers of approvals, the older proposal will be vote upon first.

make that a proposal.

I'm not a delegate, so I can't. I'm asking someone who can to do it for me.

It's easy: all you have to do is give every proposal a name like "Save the Children!", no matter what its content, and most of the liberal delegates will approve it without reading it.

Isn't it conservatives who tend to go on about saving the children? What with their anti-abortion, death penalty for paedophiles and regulate the interweb proposals.

It will be deleted by the mods because it seeks to change the game.

I thought that proposals like that had passed before... and I thought the ban on changing the game proposals meant stuff like introducing war systems, changing issues, stuff like that.

Okay. Thanks. Still, it says it will not be adopted because of this. If it gains popular support, they may do it.

No. The UN isn't ineffective; it's too effective at this point. Just look at that idiotic AIDS resolution. Even diehard socialists who knew something about how AIDS and AIDS medication work should have voted against it.

It depends on what you say you will save the children from. Capitalist exploitation or porno.

Yes we must save children from capitalist exploitation by destroying their opportunities that are created solely by capitalism.

Oh-uh. You'd better hope that Enodia stays out for the next four days now.

Te he he.
'Tis what you think.

Most delegates at least read the descriptors, and if it is in the wrong category, unless I happen to be out or half asleep I report it to Enodia, and Enodia(or Rep) usually gets them anywhen(it just never hurts too be sure).

Three warnings and you wake up ouside of the UN.

So you're saying that liberals voted for the AIDS initiative because either
1) They favor gigantic corporate subsidies, or
2) They weren't smart enough to figure it out.

I figured they just didn't read it.

Who cares about UN proposals anyway?

Let's grab a beer and incite a few nations to war.

Any one up for it?
