War Etiquette Initiative

19-10-2003, 01:34
Category: International Security Strength: Strong P
Proposed by: The Druze

Description: Whereas, the peoples of the world wish to live in peace and security.

Whereas, the majority of states in the world would rather not go to war over any issue.

Whereas, there are states in this world that still resort to use of force to settle their matters.

Let it be resolved that only the founder of a region can declare war on behalf of a region.

Let it be resolved that no state can declare war against a state in another region without majority support from all members of its own region.

Let it be resolved that no state can declare war against a state in its own region under any circumstances.

Let it be resolved that the UN shall support any state against which war has been declared if the above conditions are not met.

I do not like the idea of a founder being able to declare war on behalf of the region, quite frankly.

Except in where the factbook entry specifies such, (as in EODS) common sense dictates that currently nobody can declare war on behalf of their region, they need the region's consent.

While the proposal is well-intentioned, it needs a little re-writing.

And a little re-categorization.

From the lack of support, should I assume that people in Jennifer Government NationStates support war???

If you don't support war, you have to support my resolution.

Best of luck,

I don't like, frankly it's too subjective. A lot of nations are ruled by power hungry dictators, who like nothing better than going into war. Your laws are similiar to the ideals of the real UN. For a lot of people playing, this game is a chance to leave the real and have some fun in an imaginary world.

Druze, there was another delegate who did exactly as you did.

He submitted proposals as he felt like, rarely taking advice and criticism. Four of them came up to vote and three of them failed, as people began to realize what he was doing.

Finally he lashed out with two proposals which were the exact opposite of the mot recent two that he had submitted, despite being told several times that there were just two amendments in each as that were the reason that they were being voted down.

People ceased to take him seriously, and he eventually left the UN.

We will not accept this proposition.
