Doesn't it seem low? 70 thousand nations in this "game" and less than 20 thousand openly participate in the UN. How can the Un be taken seriously with such low numbers

Because most countries have puppet nations.
This has been an OOC post.
OOC: As the UN is a legislative body, it does not operate like the UN in the real world. It functions more like NATO, without the mutual defense clause. Therefore, it is effective in that it relates to those countries who are members. It does not claim to encompass the world, and isn't concerned with those nations who lie outside its domain.

Its power is also eveident in that there are nations who would like to be members but cannot. Ongoing efforts are made to weed out and remove "members" who violate the basic rules.
If the organization had no influence there would not be such pressure for membership coming from the outside.
