Globalization Initiative- Free Immigration

07-10-2003, 21:46
The world is rapidly globalizing, changing at a breakneck speed. The return to classical liberal economics has generated untold growth and profit. Capital moves at the speed of light, and trillions of transactions occur every day. However this newfound capital mobility is causing significant damage to certain factors of the new global economy. Archaic regulation which prevents the free movement of labour is causing wages and standards to drop, and damning some to a lifetime of sweatshop labour. Mobile labour would ensure the best qualified are able to access the careers they need, and would ensure that no one is effectively trapped into a life of what is essentially wageslavery.

Essentially, if capital is to be mobile and unrestricted, so too must labour. We must strike down immigration laws to allow the economy to truly globalize, and ensure that everyone benefits from our new found freedom.

I agree.

Unfortunately I couldn't find this resolution so I couldn't approve it.

What is the name?

How would you prevent chaos? Suppose everyone wants to go to the same few places all at the same time? It would be like people on a ship all rushing to one side; the whole shebang would sink.
Although the basic aims of the proposal are admirable.

The market naturally adjusts for that through regional supply and demand.

Basically if everyone "floods" a certain market than the value of that labor market will decrease.

This will make people go to other markets until equilibrium works out and no one area is overflooded.

It's like this. If everyone rushes to one side of a ship, once that side starts sinking, a lot of people will rush back to the other side ;).
