While I can't endorse the proposal (most of the nations in my region are left-center, but unaligned), I would suggest breaking your proposal into parts and seeing how far that gets you.

For example, my Anti-Monopoly proposal.

No.

If communism is so great then nations will drift in that direction anyway.

This is an excellent idea. Most would agree on the need to curb monopolies (and their kin, the giant international holding companies). Once these monsters are leashed, the robber barons lose their clout and other reforms can take place.

One major objection to communism: too many committees. Everyone hates committees.

I know communism. I believe that everyone should make their own money and do their own stuff.

Communism is all about that.

I think you have to be more careful in the wording of your proposal. Sure, Communism sounds great, but the next thing you know you've got some creepy Stalinish dictator with a bad moustache claiming that he's throwing you in gulag for the next fifty years for your own good, and we all know where that leads. It's all fun and games until someone loses their right to habeus corpus!

But that issue aside ... I've lived in a communally-owned cooperative, and let me tell you, the first time you're in a five-hour meeting where the main topic of debate is whether you should get a toaster or a toaster oven, and if you get a toaster how many slots should it have, and is it worth the extra english ruble or two to get one that can toast bagels, and so on, you'll soon see that collectivism is by no means a ride in the park, if you know what I mean, and I think you do!

So I say, forget about legislating Communism. If Marx was right it's all a historical inevitability anyway, isn't it? You might as well legislate the rising of the sun! (Actually, didn't the Catholic church try to do that back in the day? I think we all know how that turned out!)

I would have to agree with what the rebutals to this proposition. I personally think that if communism was tweaked a little bit, it would be a great system, there are some things in my government that could be called communistic, but, there are some problems with that proposal.

1.) To force communisim on people who do not wish to be communist will resent the act and the UN would lose most of it's members.

2.) As the previous post said, you would not want a Stalinistic dictator to rise to power.

3.) Just because the UN has forced everyone to be communistic, that doesn't mean every nation is communistic. On the FAQ of NS, there are some 70,000 nations in the NS world, only 20,000-22,000 are UN members. How do you think the rest of the international comminity would feel?

We are willing to be politically friendly (and are politically friendly to few) communists governments, but, I will not have any stlye of governement, wiether it be communism or right wing facism, imposed on me or my nation.

Communism wouldn't be so bad except for... 1) Communism is supposed to be a transition of power from a government to the people (Marxism), however, the Fat Cats of Communism are satisfied with the power granted to them by Marxism, and frankly, don't feel like following through with the last phase of Communism. 2) The 2nd most powerful nation at one point, the USSR, was communist, but fell. All communist governments are doomed to fail as they are doomed to be taken advantaged of by the so called communists. 3) Communism is corrupt, more specifically, they have huge restrictions on Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, and many other Freedoms. The Communist nations are in constant violation of the Human Rights..

A communist transition is illogical, offencive, vulgar, opressive, and completely in violation of perhaps all of the resolutions of the United Nations. Therefore it is highly likely that such a proposition will be barred from further voting.

The USSR was not communist, in the marxist sense of the word.

I hate it when people say it was.

Does the proposal say that everyone should be "communist, in the marxist sense of the word"? No!

My particular brand of Communism involves the free market determining the prices and availability of most consumer goods but with strict price controls on pogs, plus all citizens have to wear fur hats. I call it 'Futplexist Communism'.
