International Holiday? Sounds good to me...

I think it is about time that the world take a break for a day. I am interested to see how the highest above all high (take that whatever way you will) UN members and delegates feel about an international holiday. What would this international holiday be called you ask? Well, those of us in the tiny region of the world known as The Ministry of Silly Walks would like to suggest a Monty Python Appreciation International Holiday.

What a nice idea. This would give the libertarian-thinking people of countries like ours to understand and appreciate better the police states and juntas. Let's unite the world through humor.

I know what many of you are thinking... the standard, NS UN knee-jerk: "A vote for this is a vote against national sovereignety." But really, how would take a day off with the rest of the world hurt anyone?

Exactly, unite the world with humor! Monty Python is very objective as it has poked fun at just about every region, religion, and ethnicity on the planet. We can all just sit back for a day and laugh at ourselves.

Excellent idea! Feel free to discuss it with other NS people at our 250th Celebration (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=77088) today!

Monty Python isn't funny.

The people of Finchester greatly support such a resolution. Monty Python has enriched the world and it is only fitting and proper that we, the world, dedicate one day to them. I would gladly propose a resolution for this. Of course, the day should be October 5th (the date of the premier of MPFC). However, I do think that we should let each nation decide how to celebrate (and/or observe) this holiday.

Also, concerning this...
Monty Python isn't funny.

I am afraid I must strongly disagree with you, and I feel very sorry for you. Perhaps a resolution like this may open your eyes to the bliss of Monty Python.

Great idea!

Indeed, I am testing it out today to see how well it would work for my citizens. After all, one must properly research all proposals before passing legislation.

"hi boss. I'm sick. See you Tuesday...."

Personally, I think Tuesdays should be holidays.

Sure, just give the peasants another day to drink. I don't know if that is really what I want in my country...

This is an unheard-of response.
Perhaps such responses should be criminalized.
It could be a rider to your proposition.

I would think it would have to be on a voluntary basis...
