Spam and mailings about proposals

Hey to you all delegates and proposalee's

Every time a log on into my nation, I find it filled up with requests form delegates and other proposalee's if I could support their proposal or requests from ... to ask to vote for or against a resolution

I want to ask them to stop doing this...

I'm certain quite a number of these proposals are worthy to be put to the vote in the UN-council and can use every means of support to achieve this.
But, i'm afraid flooding delegates with these requests for support can have quite the opposite effect. Anyone who is interested in these proposals will dig into them and support the ones which earn to be put to the vote.
But they will do so anyway by going through the proposals and more likely by keeping a close eye on the UN-forum.

Me, and many more i'm afraid, simply dont have the time to do this as they are occupied with errrr.... doing whatever they do.

Anyway, I'd like to ask all proposalee's and delegates and ... to stop sending out mailings. If you want to put a proposal to the vote, do your appeals in the forum. If you want to object or approve a proposal, do it in the forum. That's it's purpose...
If I want to look into a proposal, I will do so anyway. If I don't want to, your mailing is only going to annoy me for a really short period and then going to be filed vertically.

PS I'd like to make it clear, I'm not objecting to serious discussion about proposals. I'm encouraging it! Keep on the good word! Just keep it on the forum...

I receive two telegrams a day myself from regions I have never heard of with a request to support their proposal. So I am in favour of the request made by Ekky-Ekky to keep the lobbying here at the Forum where it belongs.

With all due respect, but why should that make a difference to me?

The result stays the same...

This debate has gone back and forth with both sides making their cases - the issue then went to [violet] who made a ruling. If you don't like that ruling, you have the option to resign as the UN delegate for your region.

Telegrams are a legitimate part of lobbying on behalf of proposals and resolutions.

I thought a moderator already stated that it's ok to lobby a proposal.

If you don't like the proposal endorsement request, cease being the UN delegate.

It has been deemed legal to post TG for endorsement of proposals.

Consider it a downside for all the perks you get for being a UN delegate.

I don not care if mailing requests for support is legitimite or not, the result still stays the same.

I find it very annoying, and i'm afraid i'm not the only one.
So, my guess is you're doing more harm then good to your proposal and/or resolution if you're sending out mailings.
Which would be a pity, because I think the UN could use all support it needs.

Therefore, I do not oppose against lobbying for support for proposals. Just keep in mind that not all people like to see their mailbox flooded.
And no mod can change anything about that.

In my region (The universe), the delagateship switches frequently between Red Factions and myself. As a result, we both often receive TGs asking us to support various proposals, even if we are not the actual delegate at the time. Not only is this anoying, it also undermines the credibility of the people proposing the legislation.

To finally solve the issue of TG support solicitation, why not follow the US (loathe as I am to suggest such a thing) and create a "Do Not Call" registry, it'd be simple, just create a thread in this forum, those who wish to be on it just put their names and the region they represent in a post, and the TGers don't TG them. When the thread exceeds one page, one nation (I'm happy to do this if need be) collects all the names and regions listed and rewrites them in a list in a new thread with a single post, so potential TGers don't have to wade through pages of posts. Perhaps those who ignore the Do Not Call list could also be listed on another thread, and perhaps delegates who agree that TG solicitation is annoying would not endorse their proposals, as an incentive to comply.

Following this model makes it completely independant of Mods, so there's no increase in workload for them, and allows us like-minded people to take some action without relying on Mods.

Just a thought, if enough people support it I'll get it going, if it dies in the ass, I'll let it drop

This subject has been dealt with and ruled on. It is perfectly legal within the game to send telegrams to UN members to lobby support for proposals/resolutions.
