Proposal: Year Round Schooling?
I would like to ask the people of the UN to help back my proposal for year round schooling.
Now, I know what you might be saying, "this uber n00b shouldn't be posting proposal ideas on year round schooling," but I do feel that an that an educational increase is necessary for the children of the future.
I will now attempt to give the Pros/Cons of pushing year round schooling forward.
Pros:
- Increase in education - the students will receive a better education, not letting their brains fry out doing nothing for long periods of time.
- Kids are in school longer ('ain't I a stinka?') - Even seasonal breaks, but they have to be in school for a prolonged period of time.
- A larger workforce is readily available - the workforce of the nation will increase, due to faster schooling.
Con:
- Increase in federal spending - better education means more $$ and higher taxes.
Don't get me wrong, but I believe that the 3 pros outweigh the fairly hefty con that is offered above.
I need a better proposal title for submission because "Year Round Schooling" sounds a little blah.... know what I mean?
Thanks,
Gary D.

You don't believe that it is good for our children to have a break from school for a little while? I think it's good that they do not work the whole year, to give their minds a rest.

This guy can have all year schooling though. I just don't want anyone to give me a 'nerd whomping' when I abolish video games in favor of a compulsory youth military.

I see video games and "compulsory youth military" as directly related.
"Possum Prop 18 Video Game Technology
Video game technology should be improved and supported by the government. Young people are increasingly interested in better games so the government should take a couple of steps further and make full simulators to train children how to drive a car with driving and racing games, which could then be expanded later into war games and train them for tanks.
Flight simulators could prove to be a good way to train the military and have the children pay for it out of their own pocket.
It can also teach people critical thinking skills and multiplayer games can teach people valuable communication skill and instill in them a competitive natural that would benefit the economy."

Like with America's Army, its a great game and is probably one of the most realistic out there.
As a matter of fact, I turned 17 two months ago... so you know, I do know what its like to have year round schools... by the way, this is a game, and its not a big deal if kids have year round schools...

They have great simulations in the military for training.

Sorry. My mind was just blown. I'll get back to you in a while.

Just...suggesting year round schooling makes me sick.
*must nerd whomp*
i think it sounds like a great idea to boast Protectorate of XtremeRaz's young kids in having better education so that they can have better skills and jobs in the future.
i will personally approve this bill. it doesnt sound negative...
If this resolution is passed we will only find ways to circumvent it!
The Kingdom of Schim is not in favor of year round schooling, but we are in favor of a ban on more than 4 hours of videogames and TV a week for chilren. We are also in favor of at least 1 year of cumpulsary musical training, 12 years of foreign language training (each student should graduate high school having mastered written and oral English, German and French) and mandatory physical activity every day.

1 year of compulsory musical training? Geez, it's not like they'll need it, unless they intend to become musicians or something, and besides not everyone has the talent.
As for the TV/videogame ban, how on Earth are you going to enforce it?
Besides, don't they deserve some relaxation time?
Just...suggesting year round schooling makes me sick.

Well, then as a nerd I should point out that summer vacation is an anachronism, a holdover from before the industrial revolution. It was originally so that kids could go work the farm during the growing season without having to quit school. But in these days of corporate farming, that's not really relevant anymore.

Someone has to plant the "herbals"
I've got a better idea--get government out of school curriculum planning altogether.
The Protectorate of Grotia fully supports the idea of year round schooling, seeing that is the norm in our country. The benefits are many, the costs few, and haing military training as a compulsory subject benefits our military.
Video games...vacation...for children? I can understand if time off is used for extra military or survival training, but to do nothing...don't be ridiculous.

Why is the duration of a nation's educational curriculum any concern of the UN? This proposal doesn't seem to have any bearing on international commerce or security. And seeing as the Empire of Smaptania educates its children through by downloading information directly into their brains via a USB port on the backs of their necks, having them sit in a classroom year-round would be redundant.

We, the people of the Federation of Isla Saudade, absolutely reject this proposal and promote official delegates of each region not to approve this resolution, because we came to the following conclusion:
a) This was clearly planned to create wars, discipline, hierarchy, imperialism and to brainwash children, by making them follow a military order since their are small, to be subordinated to the power of the rulers.
b) They NEED vacations, to do those things they wont be able to do when they are grown up.
c) This was made so that capitalist countries can have more people in the proletarian class working so that the capitalists get the money coming from their labour. As they will be working at a smaller age, there will be a faster production, that of course will benefit the rich class. It's clear it was made by capitalists to fulfill their interests and the ones of the upper class that he represents in his nation.
d) It doesnt help the world's progress or the people's education, because it will make them be really busy and they will forget what they learn.
e) It will really be boring for children.
f) It will not give them a good reason to keep going to school, because they wont even have holidays to rest!!!!
So our final thought is NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If such proposal is approved by the delegates to become a resolution and then it is approved by each member, the Isla Saudade will quit the United Nations.

I disagree with this too, but I don't think that it's necessarily a capitalist conspiracy to invoke death, desolation, and tyranny on the proletariat ....
Besides, I go take college classes in the summer. Saves money.

Schools should open farms during the summer then. It's cheap, efficient use of labor.
