Esamopia reflects on recent gains in UN!

Esamopia has never supported the UN's evil policy of creating what amounts to a suprastate or a federation of UN members in which each country's soverignty is well... almost meaningless.

We view with the greatest pleasure, therefore, that the latest two UN resolutions have been defeated. We also note that the most of the UN proposals on file will not likely get enough endorsements, making the victory that much sweeter!

Although we cannot take credit for the UN resolution faliures, we fully support the attitude that resolutions should respect the soverignty of all member states, and that by making general guidelines and painting with broad strokes we can all be happy in a UN whose influence is a bit smaller than it has been! We encourage all nations to veto all such obnoxious proposals and for delegates to refrain from endorsing resolutions that infringe upon UN-member soverignty!

Good luck to you all, together we can make this a better NS world!

In theory, if enough resolutions pass, we'd all have identical nations.

Er, the latest resolution gave countries the ability to be diverse.

while all nations are affected by the same catagories (the part that matters for the game's purpose,) individual issues can shape the nation to a great degree as well.

Er, the latest resolution gave countries the ability to be diverse.

It also contradicted any nation founded on a Bill of Rights.

I'm happy that The Bill of No Rights did not pass, it infringed upon our countires freedoms.

Mwhahaha... if you take a look at the recent UN proposals, the most has received 53 endorsements... making the possibility for any UN resolution a fleeting hope, at least in the short term.

I love this! Finally the UN will pay for its obnoxious interference.

Have you lost the ability to deny social services to your people, because that resolution was defeated? I don't think so.

How so, it denied nothing, it gave your country more freedom actually. No longer subjected to those saying it is a right when the country has not.
If you did'nt feel it was a right, it wasn't.
Now as you can see you lost more than gained by defeating the Bill of no rights.

I am glad that the sovereignty of nations is gaining some measure of respect within the UN. Many do not wish to join due to infringments on National Sovereignty.

Please reject the lastest proposal!

This proposal helps almost no one... for example, whatever space program you have now, including anything that may be used for defense (  Space based nuclear weapons...) or just a civilian program, will have to be placed under the evil control of the United Nations, in which every little member, including those who do not have space programs, will be able to run it as they please! You must vote against it!

As for those who do not have a space program, you should still vote against, as the costs of making a new space program are enormous, and you should instead focus on a national space program, making bilateral or poly-lateral agreements with other nations if you feel them necessary.

The proposal has no worth, is of little value, and is only proposed by someone who has dreams of a Star Trek based universe coming out of this... not going to happen!

There may be two things going on here.
(1) Most of the basic proposals have already passed, creating a workable foundation for international law,
(2) Some of us are tired of the onslaught of special-interest legislation and are reacting against it.

Esamopia is happier than ever! With the predicted defeat of the Genetic whatever resolution, this will make the official count better than ever (3 of the last 4 resolutions destroyed!)

Mark my words, I have nothing against the United Nations... I was a delegate at one point and I take an active part in the UN now, but I cannot stand the special interest universally binding confounding evil resolutions, that keep on getting endorsed and then passed! I believe that all nations should seriously consider a national soverignty resolution, or at least the ability to nullify some outrageous UN resolutions, such as those that would conflict with the constitution/driving idea of a nation.

I also believe that the delegate endorsement requirement should be increased, possibly back to 10%, since this would help insure that only legitimate resolutions come to a vote, and would prevent the enormous amount of time and debate wasted in what are clearly special interest legislation proposals, like we have seen in the last several resolutions.
