People vote against this?!
Those of you who voted against this either were not serious, had no idea what the hell the bill meant, or you're just a bunch of freeloading bastards who expect too much stuff for free. This is the most ingeneous bill thought up (or borrowed) that I've seen so far.

People who voted for this do not realise the bill constantly contradicts iteself and contradicts the UN bill of human rights. they also use terms like freeloading bastards to assuage their own fears of insignificance. I was dead serious when I voted agaisnt this bill and asked people to do the same.

I guess it was just not to be  .
We didn't like the part about the healthcare.

Cheer up. Your biotech thing will probably pass.
I voted yes. All you can do is try. Socialism and right wing ideology is too prevailent on the internet because those are the views held be most younger people. MOST of the Left wingers are older and probably don't know about NationStates. They exist, they're the majorty, they're just not here. This, the internet, is the domain of the Socialist.
To quote Winston Churchill,'If you're not a liberal by 20, you're considered evil. If you're not a conservative by 40 you're considered an idiot.' Or something to that tune.

I was lead to believe he said ''you are'' rather than "you're considered"

Funny. I've found the most virulent conservatives, socially and economically, to be the younger in this group. I just figured that, like me, as people get older (I'm in my mid-thirties) they start to realize that you don't get something for nothing, and if you expect things like, oh, roads, schools, a military, worker protections (OSHA, Worker's comp), unemployment protection, social security, safe food and medications, firemen just to name a few benefits, you have to pay for it. And you pay for it with your taxes.
Taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society, and in the US at least, we don't pay very much. But that's fair, because we don't get very much either, not compared to the rest of the world.

True that many people get more mellow in their viewpoints as they get older but I reckon that has something to do with having children as much as age. Once you have to be reliable for your child you are less likely to go on strike for example. Nowadays, however, people are getting married and having children later especially in the middle classes. Does this not mean that a growing number of people with the financial clout to back it up will have a more extreme view later into life because of this cange it the demographic?

You do realize, don't you, that socialism and right-wing ideology are as close to polar opposites as you can get, right?

WTF?? I am older; I am here; I am left-wing, and I am a socialist. I really don't understand what you're saying here.
To quote Winston Churchill,'If you're not a liberal by 20, you're considered evil. If you're not a conservative by 40 you're considered an idiot.' Or something to that tune.
And Winston Churchill was a royal ass, as are most of his pithy quotes.

I didn't bother with the bill due to the language it was presented in and that I didn't agree to some of what it said, in particular how it would prevent things like welfare and medicare in UN states.
What is so hard to understand about that?

As much as we here in Alabammy AGREE with the proposal, we also think it ain't the U.N.s job to be tellin' folks how they should keep their own house.
So, as we're the sorts that PRACTICE what we PREACH, we're votin' against it.
Not because we don't AGREE with it, but because the U.N. ain't a tool to be forcin' policies down folks' gullets.
Y'all keep the policies in-line with keepin' world peace, and we'll be more'n happy ta support y'all. But don't be tellin' folks how to keep their own house. That ain't right.
