OMNIPOTENT FEDERATION OF STEPHISTAN
ROLE PLAYING UNIVERSITY
UNITED NATIONS HEADQUARTERS

Upon stepping up to the speakers' podium, Tn Seyn, the delegate representng the People's Democratic Social Republic of Ariddia and the ten billion people of the Uhuhland region, took a moment to let his gaze sweep over the audience. In the first rows of the vast room sat his fellow regional delegates, while the back rows of the immense amphitheatre were filled with over twenty-six thousand creatures of various species and genders, each one invested with the responsability to speak for millions of sentients across the globe.

His time was limited - many delegates would want to make their voice heard - so be began. Only forty years of age, Seyn was far from the most experienced diplomat in the room, but he hoped to convey the urgency of the matter nonetheless.

He spoke in his native Wymgani, while, offstage, his words were translated into English, and transmitted to English-speaking delegates or to translators who would pass them on in other languages where required. A true tower of Babel, in more senses than one...

"Esteemed delegates." He paused. "Let me put this bluntly. The United Nations has lost its way. Resolutions are submitted which shatter the very purpose of this organisation. We should strive to co-exist in harmony. Instead, some would impose their views upon the world, tearing down the institutions of sovereign states and replacing them with what they, in their subjective arrogance, deem better.

Who can possibly claim the wisdom to impose a single set of policies and ethics upon billions of sentient beings and thousands of nations? Even if your wisdom were infinite, you would still be confronted by the barrier of diversity. No two nations are identical, be it historically or culturally, and no set of legislations can be imposed upon such variety. It is senseless. This diversity is to be treasured, not eradicated, and it is the role of this organisation to treasure it.

In Ariddia, we value democracy. We are aware, however, that our ethical beliefs spring from our culturally and politically subjective views. There are nations in which a sudden imposition of democratic values and the destruction of a long-standing power system would result in civil war, be it ethnical, religious or of any other nature. Those who seek to impose any given system upon the world are blind as to the vast variety of local realities, and the complexities of the world we live in. Their visions are those born of intolerance and ignorance. They must not be allowed to prevail. They shall not be allowed to prevail. I trust there is still enough sense in these United Nations for them not to prevail.

Thank you."

He stepped down, and returned to his place, allowing time for his words to sink into minds, be processed and considered. He had done his part...

90% of that proposal was useless waffle. Please, you're not in creative writing class now. Save it for the prose-fiction.

This is why we should vote YES on the Bill of No Rights!

There is no logical connection between "This" and the BNR.
