Dear delegates,
I urge you all to approve the 'Clintoned Climate Protocol' proposed by my good ally Clintoned. It raises many interesting and vital points, which must be acted upon! I feel that this proposal should be passed, too much time is wasted on unnecessary and stupid proposals. This is a real one that must be taken seriously if our world is to go on.
Here is the proposal for you to read.
Clintoned Climate Protocol
This protocol will oblige all UN nations to cut out NOT less than 80% of their current yearly human greenhouse emissions! These added man-made emissions are disrupting the world’s climate! Use of nuclear power will be disencouraged since rightly so you stressed the point that this is dangerous!
Since many UN nations have many different ideas how to achieve this target, this time you would be allowed to use your own ideas to achieve this target! BUT you must achieve this target within 5 years, as we have no time to loose!! Any failure to achieve this target after the 5 years chance have passed, you must pay heavy fines to the UN (of NOT less than $1,500,000 per month)! If it continues to persist after 1 year then together with the fines, sanctions must be imposed against it and if it persists for 1 more month then it must be thrown out of the UN! Nuclear Power must have 15% added tax!
Now, every UN nation if you want you can opt to pay a yearly fee as follows to the UN beginning exactly after this resolution passes:
$1,500 (those from DEVELOPING economy, downwards)
$8,000 (those from VERY STRONG economy, upwards)
$5,500 (the rest of other economies)
(An issue with the question: “Do you want to pay the fee? Yes / No” must appear to every UN nation just after the resolution! If they fail to answer this question within the first time they are active then it must be deemed as a NO and have to pay a heavy fine to the UN of $20,000 because of failure to answer it!)
These fees and fines must be used ONLY for environmental protection and needs, to subsidize renewable energy (In fact you can buy renewables like solar panels from the UN which must have NOT less than 50% discount), to help poor nations achieve this target and to pay nations for the trees! Note: UN nations, which opt NOT to pay the fee, will gain NO help and NO subsidize from the UN! Instead they would have to comply using their own money and their own resources!
Look at what happened until now due to this problem! Europe had a sweltering summer, deserts are growing and the Mediterranean Sea is getting hotter due to above average temperatures! Thunderstorms in some areas are becoming more intense and the arctic ice has broke releasing a lake and killing UNKNOWN LIVES! We could not leave this unaddressed especially that this is a HUMAN – INDUCED WARMING!
UN nations will be obliged to plant trees (normal or genetically modified) to absorb 10% more on how much their remaining greenhouse emissions are! Ex. if it continues to emit 30 tonnes a year then the nation is obliged to plant trees which absorb 33 tonnes a year! For this the UN must pay the nation $500 once! (if you opt to pay the fee) In voluntary basis UN nations can plant extra trees! For the extras the UN must pay the nation $20 (if you opt to pay the fee) for every normal tree planted and $100 (if you opt to pay the fee) for every genetically modified tree planted! The seeds of genetically modified trees must be bought ONLY from the UN at $50 per seed to be sure that these would be harmless to the environment and to be modified specifically to absorb more greenhouse gases! These modified ones, must be modified also to be INCAPABLE of producing their seeds thus there would be NO chance for them to multiply without control! Genetically modified trees must be cut/destroyed when the CO2 level in the atmosphere drops to as it was before the industrial age!
