The Taser Gun Replacement Act
A resolution to tighten or relax gun control laws.

Description: I Propose that instead of our police force be allowed guns with bullets that they will be given "Taser Guns" in which the the potential criminal will not have any long term injurys in the case of a gun battle. Please, keep our streets safe without the factor that someone might die, thank you.

We the People's Republic Of Amyth question the usefulness of this act. What would happen if the criminal in question was grounded? Had a gun? With only tasers to defend themselves our police would be helpless against these well armed grounded criminals. Crime would run rampant throughout our streets and the honest citizens would be forced to buy lightning insurance! This resolution must never pass.

Well, the police officer can still be shot can't he? This is another example of new left policy- they are more interested in protecting the criminals than the officers who lay their lives on the line to protect civilians. Vote a very resounding NO.

How usefull is a Taser if the guy is 20 feet away? If you develope some sort of nueralizer beam or something of the sort that automatically disables the criminal than that would be more usefull.

Besides the already pointed practical problems every nation has their own level of criminal activity and level of violence involved in fighting against it. Thus, every nation should decide what's best for them within certain reason, which is another topic of endless debate. A country with shoplifters being the worst problem is obviously way different than one with constant armed robberies (and then again, those nations have problems elsewhere as well).

If this reolution is passed, Carpage will not resign from the UN, however we will arm our security officers with shotguns in addition to the two pistols and pepper spray they already carry in open defiance of the UN. Furthermore we will begin producing nuclear warheads, despite our nations past resolve to remain nuke free. Furthermore, our considerable armed forces will tax all vessels we determine to be in our naval 'space' so that we may research tasers.

A gun does not kill unless someone pulls the trigger. Perhaps we should outlaw breeding next.

A good point, therefore no need to replace guns.

Catholic Europe approves of the proposal 'Taser gun replacement act'. Catholic Europe feels that it is a humane way of stopping criminals without murdering someone in the process. We hope that it will cut down our criminal deaths when police are catching them.

The United Socialist States of Grandiloquence approves of the proposal, or should I say MIGHT approve of it. The positive effect is It would not kill criminals, but stop them as effectively as any guns, which are not good, accurate means of crime-hindering.
HOWEVER, though we agree normal policemen and women on the streets should not be armed with sharp bullets; if such a thing would be approved then there is a need for allowing special police forces who take action when there is a severe crime, such as heavily armed groups of criminals/ hostage-taking situations/ similar events.

We in Gurthark are proud of our entirely gun-free society (our police are armed with tangler nets and, for use in extremis, tranquilizer weapons that can be used as dart guns or hand-to-hand weapons). However, we were able to acheive this because we have an extremely low level of crime. In heavily crime-ridden regions, arming the police with tasers only would lead to their being hopelessly outgunned by criminals, leading to the complete breakdown of the social order.

While we in Gurthark encourange nations to find means of reducing crime other than an armed police force--gun control, progressive policies in social welfare and education, well-lighted and patrolled streets--we recognize that some countries do not have the infrastructure for these to be workable solutions. We hesitate to so badly hamstring the police in countries that may desperately need a well-armed police force.

Sincerely,

Two pistols? That has to be one of the stupidist things I ever heard. Not only is the other one useless, it is actually a safety risk, a criminal could sneak up on the officer while they were busy and steal the pistol they weren't holding at the time. Unless you think they are all going to be super matrix guys shooting with both pistols at the same time, in which case they probably need steel enforced arms.
