Kyotonia's Concerns On The Cato Acts

24-09-2003, 14:52
In looking over the proposal, Kyotonia has one correction and a few concerns.

In Article IV, I think the word you want there is "persecuted" not "prosecuted".

In Article V, there are groups that Kyotonia refuses to acknowledge nationally as well as locally. For example, any group/organization that supports blatant acts of terrorism. Do you realize what Article V potentially opens and who it opens it to? If this article is to support the rights of those that are deserving then let's not leave a loop hole for those that are definitely not derserving of said right. Every snake that can slither, will!

In Article X Kyotonia sees this as a contradictory statement of article V. Article X states, "That government shall neither abridge nor expand the rights or responsibilities of any citizen on account of "race".

If article V states, "That all persons have the right to petition the government and assemble nonviolently" then you are expanding the rights of terroists groups. The snake slithers again.

As Kyotonia does see the rationale in most of the articles, we would be more inclined to vote for this proposal if our concerns are addressed in the re-wording or that the proposal was postponed until the proposal was amended.

Respectfully,
Kyotonia
