The United Nations Overstepping its Jurisdiction

17-09-2003, 04:08
-- U.N. Ambassador Alex Baron of Reformed Alcardia takes the podium after listening to others with similar views --

"The United Nations has so far overstepped its boundaries in recent weeks that the idea of an independent nation is rapidly becoming a dream!" He says in a loud but reasonable tone of voice, raising his hand for emphasis. "Some United Nations resolutions trample on the very tenets of many nations' Constitutions, and without major opposition, I may add! The majority, by far, of United Nations delegates simply vote with whichever side has the largest amount of votes, be it for or against. More often than not, unless the resolution is completely and utterly pointless, it will be passed by a large margin! The voice of the individual United Nations delegate is silenced by this massive ignorance of the cause!"

Baron took a moment to compose himself before continuing. "Ladies and gentlemen, we stand in the halls of the esteemed United Nations, where views are to be heard from all sides, and judgements are to be made to safely guide the world without trampling the soverign right of that nation to run itself. The ability of the United Nations to decide everything within a nation from planting of trees to sections of buildings to be set aside for smoking, my friends, is so far beyond the jurisidiction of this organization that it is downright laughable! The Reformed Alcardian States has risen from a nation which had, in the past, oppressed our soverign rights and the rights of the individual within the nation. While we respect the United Nations and provide all of its delegates with the highest of dignities, it is inappropriate that the United Nations should be allowed to decide the everyday lives of its member nations' citizens!"

"Surely you must see it this way as well. I yield any of my remaining time."

We'll miss you when you leave.

The UN that you signed up to has trampled your soverign rights, then leave. Or do something about it, though now some of the mods seem to be deleting proposals that repeal earlier proposals bringing reform to the UN could be difficult.

The reason that most proposals get voted through, is simply that only the ones likely to get a chance to be voted on due to the delegate process.

Lots of love
