PRESS CONFERENCE: DE-ELIMINATION of BIO WEAPONS ACT

16-09-2003, 19:47
Un Delegates: Please read over and if you agree, please support this proposal for legislation by searching for it in the "List Proposals" Part of your UN page and click to Aprove it. It is on page 7.

Press Secretary of Hudackia (Sept 16,2003):

PS of Hudackia:

Good afternoon UN Delegates. This conference is being brought to your attention today due to the recent acceptance of proposal. The De-Elimination of Bio Weapons Act simply will repeal the Elimination of Bio Weapons act of April 2003.

As UN members, we must have the right to research and develop Bio Weapons for our own safety. Currently, due to UN laws, the Elimination Act only prohibits UN Nations from having these weapons. Non-UN Nations can have, will have, and do have access to research and development of such weapons and there is nothing the UN can do about it.

The Elimination Act of April also goes against the Fight the Axis of Evil Act passed a year ago as well as the Scientific Freedom Act passed months after. This Bio Elimination Act contradicts two former UN policies.

In conclusion, The De-Elimination Act will allow the UN States to research, develop for security, and seek out countries who already are harvesting these weapons. Questions?

Nevert: Yes, don't you feel this act will encourage UN Nations to use Bio Weapons for war and evil?

PS of Hudackia: That is a possibility, but who is to say that the current ability of having nuclear weapons doesn't constitute the same encouragement? It is up to the UN and the Good of humanity to regulate these weapons.

I'm sorry, but that is all the time and space we have for questions. If you have any further questions, please contact Hudackia in a telegram. Thank you for coming and thank you for your time.

I run a station decommissioing weapons. £100 per kg, if you're interested.

Thank you for your concideration, however, I am just looking to get this Proposal passed for future Voting. If anyone is interested in this, let your Regional Delegate know so they can Approve it on their UN page. Thank you for all of your cooperation! This resolution, if it passes, will bring everyone's political rights up and security levels up as well.

Thank you,

President of Hudackia

The poll is not accurate because I messed up the format, however, those who did vote No should reconcider because it is important in my views. It is important to see who has these weapons to stop future attacks!

We'll bring this proposal to our Regional Delegate's attention. Sounds like a grave issue, but we don't think we should allow biological weapons in the UN. Maybe another alternative?

You have the right to build whatever weapons you want. Getting shot in the head has the same result as getting blown to bits by nukes.

If anything WMDs will discourage war since people will realize how nasty war really is. And nuclear weapons make for excellent MAD threat leading to a state of strategic stalemate, which is much preferable to world war.
17-09-2003, 02:46
We; however, do not have a military, and thus would never think of entering a war.

What if you get invaded?
17-09-2003, 02:51
What would we do to warrant invasion?

There are many war-mongering nations, they may attack you for no reason :(

What would we do to warrant invasion?

Oh come on, we both know that not all countries have legitimate reasons when they go to war *cough*USA*cough*
17-09-2003, 03:59
Your points are recognized, but we are not worried. If the situation comes up, then we will worry. We intend to remain a peaceful nation, however.
17-09-2003, 05:25
There is a law that says bio weapons can not be used against another nation. And especially as a nation with no military, this resolution would benefit you most. Bio weapons are typically used against helpless peoples. Please tell your Delegate to approve this resolution.
17-09-2003, 15:38
Currently, the Approval of the Resolution has been going up, however, it will not reach the number of Approvals needed to be brought to a vote! Please get your votes in there Delegates!

POINT OF ORDER

Mr. Secretary, I make the point of order that this proposal violates the UN precedents by seeking to repeal a resolution previously passed.

That order does not comply with this UN.... remember, this UN isn't the same as the real thing. This order is completely legal.

I don't agree with the precedent, but check this ruling (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=71592) out.
