Vote down the Common Sense Resolution

10-09-2003, 06:57
To all our fellow UN members,

Vote down this resolution for one short, but important reason:

It violates the UN's charter. The UN CAN make laws dealing with how nations interact with other nations. It CANNOT make laws dealing with nations' internal affairs (which legal lawsuits are). While we are all annoyed by idiotic lawsuits and would like to see them limited, this is not the way to do it. The UN cannot tell individual nations what laws to make or not make with regards to their own citizens. It violates all our rights.

With this in mind, every sensible nation should vote NO. Unfortuantely, a lot of nations are voting FOR this resolution without noticing this key point.

The UN unfortunately seems to pass whatever resolution gets enough endorsements, without regards to its quality. This resolution, while interesting, is NOT ENFORCABLE by the UN and must not be allowed to pass.

Once again, we hope we can count on your support in voting DOWN this resolution and preserving the integrity of the UN.
