The Legalisation of Marijuana

08-09-2003, 10:24
The government of Peaceout believes that marijuana should be legalised so that some sort of control can be formed over those who use it. Each household would be allowed no more than two plants. Any more they would be arrested. This would help cut down on drug crimes.
Rock on.

Amazingly I support this! :D

Yes, this does seem like a good plan, but what of those people that want more than 2 plants. They will be jailed all the time, and then that take us back to where we were. I am sorry but I don't agree with you on this plan, at this time.

Wow. So you are suggesting that the United Nations force Sovereign countries to legalize this plant - even though it may be against their religious beliefs? Why don't you just do this in your country and leave the rest of the world out of it?

Because then they butt their nose in!

marijuana is illegal in the Imperial Unions, but the penalties for smoking it are relatively light, the offendor is sent to rehab.

Dealers, smugglers etc. are shot. No questions.

Um, unless the alcohol, tobacco and paper producing industries constitute a religions, I'm not sure which religions you are talking about.

i would like to know if marijuana is dangerous......does it make people do terrible things? does it turn the mind into a crapball?
Should we not talk about other more dangerous products that show people turn into crazy killers or make them do terrible crimes.
i have seen no evidence that mariuana is a potential danger, does anyonw know?
i want my nation to be healthy and wise and crimefree.....
will marijuana ruin a nation?

In real life, no. In game terms, if you legalize pot, one of your daily issues will likely cite a drop in productivity unless pot is banned in the work place. I haven't been harmed by approving pot for home use. Seems logical enough: society probably shouldn't condone being drunk on the job either.

The smoking of Marijuana is illegal in the Middle Country and the penalty for trafficking drugs is DEATH...just like in Singapore (one of the most modern cities/countries in the WORLD).

My people don't need to take medicine that will only make them stupid. If they want to relax...they can go to a massage parlor. A nice healthy massage is probably less expensive then the drugs anyway while at the same time...much healthier, cleaner and much more relaxing (How many people get paranoid from massages). They can also walk through the many city garden parks. Why inhale a foul smelling smoke when you can inhale the fresh air rich with the fragrence of cherry, peach and plum blossoms of the nearby flowering trees. Why dazzle yourself with halucinations when you can embrace the view of a city with it's buildings, rising from behind flowering trees, reflecting off of the park lake?

Just because something is more modern doesn't necessarily mean that it is better or more acceptable.

It's not only more modern...but these laws towards drug trafficking seems to have a positive impact on the society. The people here (Yes....I AM in Singapore RIGHT NOW...and I'm leaving it in a few hours  ) are very dilligent and hard working and the city itself is very modern. It's transit system...it's trains are some of the cleanest I've EVER seen if not THE CLEANEST...

I couldn't imagine what Singapore's transit system would look like with a bunch of druggies passed out along the terminal halls... sleeping and wasting space on the modern styled seats. The bus benches, metallic with beautiful curves giving it a modern style...marred by a dirty, haggared looking man lying across it...passed out with a joint in his mouth.

Possum Prop 13 Pass the Peace Pipe

Whether we like it or not, there are and always will be people doing drugs. I think it should be their choice. It's out of control in the Oppressed Possum any way. The way I figure, we probably have the best growers in the world, why not endorse this thriving industry and expand it and replace many things with the wisdom weed. We could make our currencies, medicines, kites, toys, foods, doggie chew toys, and replace some wood products such as logs, paper, furniture, and of course firewood. It's a win/win/lose situation. If it gets too bad, all the problem people could be deported and dumped off in a third world country.

I oppose the motion to make this a UN Resolution. I believe that this matter is up to the country involved, not a UN-enforced mandate. Just a thought.

One simple question, regardless of your stance on marijuana itself:

What mandate does the UN have to force either legalization or criminalization on each individual member state?
