Would you all please stop bitching?

There was a democratic vote.

The proposal passed by a substantial margin.

Get over it.

If you are unable to get over it, please duct tape your mouth shut so we don't have to listen to you crying over what you view as spilled milk.

TO: Representative of Kitsylvania

FROM: Minister of Foreign Affairs Voegelin, Commonwealth of Oakeshottland

It seems only right to point out that while the resolution did pass with a majority of those voting, it still only garnered a plurality of the total UN membership.

Moreover, while I can only speak for my Commonwealth, I wager that many are still angry over this as they have yet to see a reasoned defense of the resolution. The general supporter seems to give the well-thought out argument of "vote for this or you hate freedom, mom, and apple pie." Or, at best, gives one or two sentences of assertions that don't really explain why the resolution is worthwhile. Or, more often than not, it's some rant about "bigot homophobes, Catholics, etc." that basically defends the resolution negatively rather than positively.

No doubt if a group of states had garnered enough votes to force all UN nations to have an established church, those against would still be howling, especially if the supporters just said "vote for this or you hate morality, mom, and apple pie," or would rant about "bigot atheists, etc." I think what many of us desire is some well-reasoned, developed defense of the resolution. Otherwise, it will seem like merely tyranny of the majority against a minority (the thing supposedly the supporters of this resolution are so concerned about).

Just a thought.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Voegelin.

The Empire believes that you would not feel this way if the vote went the other way.

To the both of you: I wouldn't be constantly bitching about it like I'd had my balls cut off and fed to my cat or something. Christ, you're all acting like it's the end of the world.

But most importantly, one should not make sweeping generalizations.
