Banning All Nuclear Weapons

11-04-2003, 15:56
This post is to request support for a new UN resolution. Due to a recent war between the nations of Tennesse and the Swiss Guards I have submited a UN proposal to destroy all nuclear weapons so as to prevent this type of horror from ever occuring again. Another benifit will be the reduction of international tensions. I hereby ask that all regional delegates endorse this proposal in the interests of international peace. It can be found on pg 135 of listed UN proposals.

Personally I protest this, Nucular Weapons are used by Jade to control smaller, power mungering countries that attempt to interfere in national affairs.

If this resolution is approved, I prepose we use Grimdale as the site for which we fire our Nucular Weapons at in order to destroy them.

Wyldfire has worked long and hard to develop a nuclear capability and reaped many benefits from the research. We too protest such a motion, we will not become celibate simply because other nations can't keep their flies zipped.

What kind of mishegas is this?

This cockamammie resolution could single handily doom many smller nations who rely on their meager nuclear arsenals as a deterrant against invasion by larger nations with greater conventional forces. No amount of chutzpah is going to keep them from crossing the borders without them. The UN itself likely wouldn't be able to act fast enough to save a nation from that demise.

Propose a new resolution for a nuclear freeze for larger nations and moderate disarmament of nations with a considerable stockpile of these weapons. That's how you should go about it.

No touching my nukes

*kisses nuclear weapons*

Absolutely not.

1) We have too many nuclear weapons to destroy without permanently contaminating the whole of Eastern Europe.
2) They provide us with a means of retaliation through annhialation should an attack come our way.
3) They cost us money.

Although the banning of nuclear weapons would be a good idea, it is not plausible becuase there are many nations that are not subject to UN resolutions. These nations would be allowed to develop nuclear weapons while UN members could not. The proponents of organized and sane government would be putting themselves at risk by allowing UN holdouts to develop nukes with out any competition. I resent the fact that nuclear weapons are necessary to ensure peace for a country. However, until all nations become subject to UN resolutions, I must state my unwillingness to pass any such measure.

the UN is corrupt, i'll never get rid of my nations nukes

Nation of Grimdale,

When you speak of "action will be taken" what exactly do you mean by those words? Is this a prelude to a declaration of war againist such countries that oppose your resolution or are you saying you will try to pass said resolution?

Why would someone in the right mind give up their nukes without a fight? If they want out nukes they have to wage war!!! A nuclear war is always a good war...hehe

I find this view to be the most reasonable and realistic. I also agree with everything that it says. It would be dangerous and stupid to stop the development of nuclear weapons. Although it is in theory a good idea, like Communism it does not work due to the corrupt part of human nature. Unless, of course, all goverments are subject to these laws and not just the UN countries.

The Dictatorship of Jace also agrees with these views.

Frankly, like I always say, there will always be soem nut out there with a gun...

It's also worth noting for consideration that the possetion of Nucular Weapons also acts as a deterant to attacks from other nations, for they know well that if they fire Nucular Weapons at someone, that someone will fire Nucular Weapons back.

The "Fear of Force" tactic, while it may be viewed as oppresive, keeps things at bay and most of all, keeps things quite.

As such, when a country disarms, they become easy pickings for other nations, so it would in fact incress the chance for conflict.

While it seems like a nice idea for all weapons of mass destruction to be destroyed, it just isn't pratical, the only thing you can ever hope for is to control the use of Nucular Weapons, not disarm then altogether.

Your opinions have been noted, names have been taken, action will soon be taken. Thank you.

The Dictatorship considers the intention of this statment as a direct threat by Grimdale towards us and many other nations...

Where the heck did this come from? I wrote this in the first few weeks after I started the game. I'd thought, no scratch that, hoped that it had disappeared into the ether by now.
