whenever i try to upload my awesome custom flag, it wont work. i reduced it to the exact size but it is still like 30 kb over the limit (which really aint that much). how can i get it down so it will work?

for some stupid reason it wont let me put in actual pics so until i get 4 posts i cant post links or pics

Oh.
That is usually fairly compact.

Have you tried .png yet?

.jpg files work best for things with graduated tone, like photographs (which is what the .jpg format was designed for). Flags are usually better as .gif files, since that's better for large areas of flat colour.

If you're using Photoshop, you may want to try flattening your file - layers can add a lot to the size of a file.

It's not a stupid reason. It's designed to frustrate hit-and-run adspammers, and it works.

The reason for the large file size is that the flag is very complex and in my opinion for a flag; far too complex. If you remade it with the background colours being solid then it will not use as much space.

To make a .gif all you have to do is save it as that instead of .jpg when you 'save as' (for windows the drop down box 'save as type'). Although I recommend using .png as they don't distort your picture (same way to save it).
