Forum accounts for deceased nations

A few years ago I created a puppet nation which, sadly, succumbed to the void of inactivity after a short while (Ironically, I'd specifically created it for use after it had grown into a large enough size to have a custom national description). I resurrected it a while back (Quite a while, actually), but up to now had never tried to access the forums with it. I tried a few hours ago, only to receive a "You have specified an invalid user account" response. The posts I made prior to its deletion are still there when I do a search, but they have no accompanying user information (It says the name of the nation, but it's listed as "guest," posts are "n/a," etc.) How do I go about reviving the forum account after I resurrected the nation?

Have you sent a GH request (http://www.nationstates.net/89747/page=help) naming the nation?

It may be a Jolt problem, not an NS one, but we can't chase them up if we don't know what we're chasing them about.

I lodged a getting help request using the "resurrecting a nation" title (None of the others seemed to fit since they mainly dealt with player actions). It's probably a Jolt issue rather than an NS one, since the nation is fine, it's only the forum account working improperly, but maybe there's a way to bridge the gap.

Didn't Jolt/OMAC clear out a lot of inactive user accounts a short while back? Think there was another thread about this as well, but I don't have the time to look for it.

They did. As a result, we're having issues recreating forum accounts for a lot of older nations. Since we don't have direct access to Jolt Admin functions, we have to depend on programmed links that Jolt and NS admins created, but some of those aren't working anymore. Nobody on either side seems to be able to figure it out, so for now we're stumped.

File a Getting Help request from the nation in question. If we can fix it, we will. If we can't, we'll add those nations to the list for when we have a working solution.

I filed the request, so I guess now I'll...uh...well, I guess I'll just wait. There's no big rush, and I didn't have any particularly big plans, just a few small ideas. Whenever you get around to sorting this out is fine.

According to the TG response I received there's currently no way to reconnect my nation to its forum account, Jolt purged the account info after it had been inactive for a while, is there another option available? Or is this nation just off the forums permanently (Or at least until this problem is fixed)?

I suppose I could just create a Jolt forum account by myself with a name similar to the nation name, but that seems wrong. I feel like I'd be sullying the NS good name. Seriously, could you imagine that? Posting on the NS forums with a generic Jolt account? It's just not right.

If that were a viable option, I'd have recommended it. In fact, standard Jolt forum accounts can't post on NS forums. The only ones who can convert them from the Registered usergroup to the NationStates usergroup are the Jolt admins, and frankly they've not been acting on the requests that have been posted in Jolt General forums.

I've heard tonight that our admins have been given some missing pieces, and they'll do some analysis when they get a bit of time. Hopefully, suggestions can be made and solutions can be found.

Huh...well, you learn something new every day (Yesterday, for example, I learned that doing pushups on a broken wrist does not feel particularly pleasant). Here's hoping the Admins have actually been given what they need, and that they aren't driven to a breakdown trying to satisfy the clamoring NS masses (At least, not until they finish).

All the best.
