New Account Can't Post in NS Forums

Yesterday, I decided it was time to start another nation. After registering Bevue (http://www.nationstates.net/bevue) on NationStates, I tried to log into the forums with Bevue credentials. However, this didn't work, even when I use the "Forums" link in the NS sidebar.

I realized that the problem was likely that I had entered the same email for the new account as my old one, and Jolt has a one account per email address policy. The best solution, it seemed, would be to register as for a normal Jolt account (and use a different email). This worked fine (and I even was able to use the correct accentuation) and I created the account Bévue (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/member.php?u=1732887). I went through the validation process, etc., etc.

However, when I went to actually post with the new account in II, it told me I had insufficient privileges. I double-checked to see if validation was complete (it was) and then I checked to see if I could post in a non-NS forum– it turns out I could.

So, at this point, I've come to the realization that only select users can post in NS forums and unfortunately, Bévue isn't in that group. So, I want to know if it's possible for a moderator (either from NS or Jolt) to manually add that account to the NS group so that I can post with it.

Thanks a lot.

P.S. I assume this belongs here and not in the Moderation forum.

I'm guessing that what you're getting, when you try to enter the forums from the game, is something like;

"An attempt to create a forum account for your nation failed. This is probably because of a forum account in the name of your nation already exists. This is a bug, sorry -- we are working on a solution."

As it says, a solution is being worked on (and believe me, you're not the only person affected!).

Ordinary Jolt accounts don't have posting privileges on the NS forums, and unfortunately we've never been able to switch account types. Looking at my controls, it appears you'd need a Jolt admin for that.

Well, currently Jolt and NS seem to be out of synch, so it just plopped me into the main NS forums (as a guest).

EDIT: I'm so used to getting that error thing when I click on the forums that I didn't even read it. This time though, I did, and the error is exactly what you said it would be.

Thanks for your help and I'll try to get ahold of someone from Jolt.

Thank You Zinaire. I will be sure to look out for that puppet/spy.

Unless things have changed, ONLY forum accounts created when you create a nation are allowed on the Nationstates forums. General Jolt accounts are forbidden.

And unless things have changed, all of my forum accounts had the same email address attached to them, with the exception of this account.

Thank You Zinaire. I will be sure to look out for that puppet/spy.

It's not a spy...it's just a different nation. I wanted some change.

Katganistan, when I registered the new account (through Jolt), I tried using the email associated with this account and it said that email was already in the system. That would also explain why a forum account wasn't created with the new Nation.

Also, I've sent in a contact form to Jolt, hopefully they'll be able to do something. If I don't hear back from them, could one of the NS forum mods delete the Jolt general account?

We can't delete accounts. Only ban 'em, which isn't the same thing.

Right, I kinda figured that would be the case. Hopefully I'll here back from Jolt then.

Thank you all for the help and best of luck getting this bug worked out.

I had this same problem. After validating my account, it kept giving me that error message. It still does not let me log in through the forums button on the NS website. However, it does let me post in these forums, when i just log in through the log in feature in the top right.
