It grows over time, gradually increasing until you gain 5-8 million every day. You'll grow about half a billion every 3 months.

Currently, the only thing to look forward to about a high population is submitting issues, and changing the pre-title. Besides that, nothing else is good about having a high population.

well unless you rp. Then you can have a huge budget, more military, and nukes. But that is only for RPing.
