New Intricasies...

I've been playing nation states off and on for over three years now. Not very actively mind you, just checking on my nation every once and a while, making decisions about policy and etc. I'm now on my third nation due to my other two being deleted because of inactivity...But to the point, every time I come back, I see nothing has changed. No new features, no new issues, nothing. Since stopping last year the only change I've seen is the ability to subscribe to an RSS and the changing of the name "UN" to "World Assembly".

Now don't get me wrong, this is a very cool concept, and game with a lot of potential. I just don't feel like the game is meeting its potential. For instance, I can never see myself being an active player at the games current state. So, in order to make the game more dynamic I hope that the developers could try to implement some of these suggestions..

-Way to directly interact with other nations
-A lot more control over the governments budget (Have clear options of lowering/raising taxes, cut/raise spending etc)
-Have uncontrollable variables effecting a region(ie drought etc.)

Things like that.

Now I'm no game developer and I'm probably not the first to suggest these things, so there are probably reasons this type of stuff isn't already in place...But there must be some sort of way you can make the game more dynamic...

Thanks,

Dane.

I would love to see changes too, but I think the developers our focusing on NS2. :)

NationStates probably won't change significantly right now, as Cookiton said NationStates 2 (http://nationstates2.com/) is the project under construction.

No one (except OMAC and the closed-beta people) really knows for sure, but you're likely to see much more interaction and nation personalization in NS2.

NS1 has always been more of a free-form roleplay environment where all or nearly all of the interaction takes place on the forum. You must remember, NS1 was originally designed to promote a book, nothing more and what features it has now were actually much more limited earlier on. I suggest waiting for NS2 which should be out sometime this year.
