Closing Forum Accounts

Is it possible for a user to close or otherwise have their forum accounts deactivated? I've got some extra forum accounts from previous nations lying around and would prefer that they just be deleted (My understanding is that this is supposed to occur when the nation attached to them dies from inactivity, but, for some reason, it hasn't). EDIT: I'd also like to make sure that this account gets deactivated as well. I've already removed my e-mail and jumbled by password for the nation to ensure deactivation (I've got to force myself to break the habit :D)

Just wondering...what is the point? If you're not going to use it anymore, and no one else can use it, what does it matter to you if it's deleted or not?

When forum integration is working properly, forum accounts are marked "NationStates Banned" when your nation dies. In such cases, nothing more needs to be done. Likewise, when you revive your nation, you revive your forum account.

If your nation status changes (die or restore) while Jolt is acting flaky, those accounts can get out of sync. That's why your accounts survived your nations' deaths.

The solution is to apply will power (or apparently "won't power" in this case). If you don't want to use them, DON'T USE THEM. We don't provide technical solutions for internet addictions.

Of course. I just like to tie up loose ends is all. Keeping myself away is easy enough; it's keeping anyone else away from an abandoned internet account that's mostly my concern. Especially should I change ISPs in the future and my current e-mail address, attached to these accounts and used for password retrieval and such, should become reused. Allowing users to close their internet accounts is an important part of general security/privacy issues (as is effectively achieved over on the NationStates side by allowing users to remove their email addresses from nation settings, rendering nations irretrievable).

I think you greatly overestimate anyone's interest in your old accounts.

For most people, probably. But then, having participated in plenty of forums (including as a moderator once), there do seem to be at least some people with nothing better to do.

Oh well; I was just wondering whether there was some option available somewhere in one's user settings.
