Are there more and what do these all mean?

I believe they mean:
Modern Tech (what's available now)
Future Tech (think Star Wars/Star Trek)
Semi-Open (ask if you can play)
Open (jump right in and play)
Closed (this thread is only open to the people playing in it by invitation)
