I'm having a silly problem with Uploading my Flag

Ok, so I made myself a flag. And I tried to upload it, but it was too big. So I shrank it, and shrank it. Still wont up load. So I take the flag I was using, and copy it so I have the correct size. Fix my flag so it's the exact same size. And then go to upload it. It's still to big. So I shrank it 2 more times. Now it's uploaded..but far, far smaller than the other flags.

I'm not a photo-shop pro..or even novice. I'm like...horrible at this resizing stuff.

What am I doing wrong?

Sorry if this is the wrong area, or whatever. I looked through pages for about 40 minutes and didn't see anything quite like this.

There is a solution...

First, do not set the resolution of your picture below the recommended values, (horizontal and vertical size (in pixels)) or you will end up (as you have found out) with a very small image indeed.

The best way to create an acceptable image is to limit the number of colours in your image to max. 256, and use a low quality setting when writing a JPG, or even beter, save your flag as a GIF picture.

Have a look at my flag, (the holy empire of saint front) I ran into the same problems, and have solved them, using the procedure I just described, but as you will see, there is a cost, since the quality of the picture is most certainly not optimal.

One golden rule: Keep it simple! Three to five colours and easy on the graphics will give you an image that can be compressed heavily without loosing too much quality.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply :)

My flag only has a few colors, but I guess I can remove a couple :p It's too bad the flags are so limited here, but oh well. I can understand not wanting a bunch of over the top flags :p

I'll keep trying to get it to work :)
