NSG access problems

I corroborate this thread. You can get into "Anything & Everything", even, but not the General link itself.

This...thread...IS MINE!

It seems that with the exception of the "Anonymous Versus Scientology" thread, there is no way to access the General subforum. Is there any reason why this is?

Thanks.

Go to your User CP and you can get into threads you have subscribed to....if that is any help.

There's a corrupt post on the next to last thread, which causes a database error. We can't touch it.

I'll email the Jolt mods and see if someone can manually remove that post or thread.

Once you get in via Subscribed Threads, you can navigate around using the "Previous/Next Thread" links at the bottom of each thread. Until you hit the corrupt one, anyway.

If you don't have any Subscribed Threads, try going to the Moderation forum and getting in via any of the General threads linked to there.

EDIT: Correction, only the Next Thread link works for me. The Previous Thread link gives the database error message, even when I try to go back to the thread I'd jumped from. However, the back button works.

Which thread is that? I want to know so I can avoid it.

OK, I thought it was just me that the system didn't like.
Since I'm not "subscribed" to anything, and can't use "Previous" from the top-thread (the only one I can click on), I can sneak in by clicking one of your names (somebody who I know has posted lately!), asking it to search for all your posts, clicking on a recent one, and "Next Thread"-ing from there. Kind of a kluge, but it works.

Well, sort of. The only thread I could get to as a starting point was the late unlamented "Heath Ledger is Dead", LOL!

If it helps, here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=548156) is a link to the Anonymous VS Scientology thread. You can next thread from there, but previous thread seems to hit the corrupted thread.

Weirdest thing about this is that i can view general when logged out, but not when logged in.

Actually CH, that was not true for me. I had a hell of a time even through my Control Panel. All I got was a database error messege when I went through my cp.

Wouldn't creating a few new threads push the bad one off?

How’s that possible without being able to access the General forum?

How about getting people to bump any old threads they've subscribed to?

Well done sah!

Do we have any official word as to whether stuff like this (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13397890&postcount=1) is helping?

I could not access NSG just now through the General Link.

Me too.

Also, any time I click on ‘Previous Thread’ I go back to the ‘Database Error’ screen; it’s not just from a specific thread.

I more meant that will pushing the dodgy thread (if it is indeed one particular thread's fault) off the front page help matters? Will spam save the day?

If we're to try this plan(I'd reccomend bumping old threads over spamming new ones) then we're going to need to know which thread is the corrupted one.

Also, I'd like to be the first to wonder aloud about whether this will create a new Harlesburg-esque account with an n/a post count.

Oh merry be the day that spam saves NSG - in a sense, the experiment itself should give us leeway to try.

I know nothing about computers, so don't quote me on this, but come to think of it I'm not sure this plan will work. I think this post has borked the whole general forum, the reason being that if you try to go to pages other than page 1 (by adding &order=desc&page=[number] at the end of the general address) the database error is still there.

Dang, I was looking forward to mod-endorsed spamming. I would have started blatantly false rumours about my position as Official NSG Spammer.

Cycling forward through threads from two days ago yields no insight. All threads are accessible and viewable by that means. (Cycling backwards, on the other hand, yields only database errors.) I don't think spam is going to help this one. :P

Are you some sort of Frenchman to surrender so easily - the last Mod I saw was Pythgosauras giving us free rein to spam away.

I've collected 74 LOLcat pictures for this task and I'm not giving in until expressly told to do so.

Well if it was one thread that only breaks the page it is on, then we could do some bumping to bury it 3-6 pages back.

Max. He took it to the top of Jolt management, and the problem was fixed 3 hours later.

BTW, it was a corrupt table, not just a post. Spamming wouldn't have done anything but annoy the mods.

Kat.

Once I asked them about a specific type of DVI Cable, knowing what the answer was...and they treated me like an idiot and like I didn't know what i'm talking about. I mean hell. I knew the exact pin count in the thing.

So yeah. They aren't all that good.
