I think that Nationstates is great but there's two things you could change:
1.Let the tax rate effect the nations private sector (with a high tax rate people have less money to spend) and the UN category (by decreasing economical freedoms). I've seen nations with a 100% as "capitalist paradise"...
2.Let the nations see all the UN reports. Now you have to wait up to a month(or even longer) to see to example how intelligent your population is.

1) Since you don't know how tax and private sector spending are calculated, how do you know whether it's included or not? There are more factors than income tax involved, and different nations may have different approaches to what is or isn't 'income'.
2) The UN reports aren't all generated daily. Only the one that is randomly selected is actually generated and displayed. Doing all of them would add dramatically to update time, and require a new display method for essentially all of the tables in Regions and The World. Rather a lot of extra work, actually. You can wait it out.

Actually... would it be possible to have a tax rate the user can set?
or will that be too much of an overhaul?

It's tied to the issues, so technically you already can set it. It may just not behave like you expect it to.

Okay I get your point, but would some sort of compromise work? Like 3 UN reports a day? And you didn't say why the income tax can't effect the nations UN category, I hope you get me when I find it strange to see a nation with a 100% incometax as "Right-wing utopia" or something like that...

Okay I get your point, but would some sort of compromise work? Like 3 UN reports a day? That would still triple the length of the update.
And you didn't say why the income tax can't effect the nations UN category, I hope you get me when I find it strange to see a nation with a 100% incometax as "Right-wing utopia" or something like that...Because other factors are more important, and because weird contradictions (http://www.nationstates.net/the_shambling_mounds) can be amusing.
