I've changed the "nation type" of my country name a couple of times as I try to find something appropariate, but I've seen types that are not on the list of types that I can choose from.

How do I set the type to "county"?

When your population reaches 500 million you may choose a custom type.

And to head off the inevitable question, it takes about 3 months to reach 500 million.

And if your nation is in the UN then calling it a 'County' will mean that it -- unlike all of the nations with other designations -- is subject to a UN ban on using landmines in conflicts... ;)
