How is this done?

If it is not possible it should be.

Can't be done. Due to the fact that if you change your name on the NS Site, it would still be the previous name on Jolt.

If you want a new nation name, just make a new nation and stop using the old one.

Or, you should just think before you name your nation. :D

That's one tiny part of it, yeah. There are multiple other factors.

I was thinking of renaming my old one to be almost the same as my new one.

Well. That would most likely be the most visable issue to us. I'm sure there'd be a ton of other issues on the Mod/Admin end of things that no one else would be able to see.

If it is not possible it should be.

I completely disagree. I see many, many reasons why renaming your nation is and should remain impossible.

Unless your old nation was deleted for foul misdeeds, you can get the old one resurrected. Just send a message using the Getting Help Page (http://www.nationstates.net/-1/page=help) and it'll be back in no time (you can also find the Getting Help Page under the FAQ on the nation sidebar). Make sure you're logged in (to your current nation) at the time, so it's easier for the Game Mods to make sure you're you.

Assuming such a feature is even desirable, couldn't it be implemented by creating a new nation (with the desired name) and copying all the stats of the old nation to the new one, followed by an (irreversible) death of the old nation? All that's missing then is the old forum posts still belonging to the old nation... Anything else missing perhaps?

But then you might as well just make a new nation and let your old one whither and die.

But that doesn't transfer the stats from the old nation to the new one.;)

So it's definitely not possible?

No, it's not. Can't be done and won't be done. Sorry.
