Not sure if this is definitely the right place but i'll try here anyway.
Dunno what you'll think of this idea, but I think we should have a 'Comings and Goings' forum... Obviously it doesn't have to be called that but let me explain...

It as named, is for peoples comings and goings. First of all it would:

1) Have a place for all those silly, I'm leaving threads... They clutter up general all the time and never seem to go anywhere but they keep popping up. At least with this they'd be out of the way.

2) A place for noobs to get to know the place... With hundreds and thousands of posters it's really hard for new players to get a feel for the place. Here they could be encouraged to Introduce themselves, and that way we'll get to know them and vice versa. It will ease in more posters and make em regulars!

3) If someone is going away for a while, they could just say it there, that way we won't just think they've disappeared and won't worry about them...

4) Get to Know the mods... For many new players the mods may be these scary out of sight rule enforcers, here we could get to know them, fun all round :)

There's a few other little ways it can help... I've seen it done on a different froum who also gets hundreds of posters a day so I think it could work here...

So ideas? Changes? Discussion?

You could probably solve all these problems without a new forum...

Ban them. Delete them as soon as they're posted or move them to the spam forum. I honestly don't see the point in them, apart from as attention-whoring. If a poster is leaving, they can TG all those people they think might care that they're going. We don't need a thread in General (especially considering how often people leave 'permanently' only to come back)

We were all noobs at one point, and we all managed to fit in ok. It's not as if we deliberately make General a hostile place...

Again, TGs can work wonders.

I'm sure the mods would love that. As if they don't have enough to do with checking the forums, the Getting Help page, and still maintaining a life away from the game...

I guess it could work. Not sure how much it'd be used, though.

It's an idea, certainly, but I can think of several forums we'd need before something like this. This wouldn't even make my top 10 ... and we're not adding ANY new forums at this time.

Ah well, thought i'd just throw it out there as a suggestion! :D
